ronandsue74 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 I just replaced my engine air filter with a new Fleetguard air filter. I pusher the button on the gauge to reset it. After driving the coach I noticed the filter minder is at 22 about 3/4 of the way to the red portion. Any thoughts on the problem/resolution would be appreciated. cmarq Report post Posted January 22, 2014 That is common. I spent 40 years with Cummins in CT and I think they are like idiot lights for oil and water NG. The only accurate way to measure air cleaner restriction is with a manometer or magnetic gauge .
wolfe10 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Actually, it is quite possible that the gauge IS accurate. Remember, the gauge is reading TOTAL restriction on the air intake. This includes intake on the side/rear of the coach, ducting to the air filter, air filter condition AND SIZE, and ducting from filter past the air filter minder to the engine intake. I know that there were some CC's with inadequately- sized air intakes/filters. Check with one of the CC owners websites and you will find posts on this. desertdeals69 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 You might check to see if there is a restriction in the duct work between the air intake and the filter. The gauge can be tested with a vacuum gauge pump tester.
