janessahoward Report post Posted April 2, 2014 I had plans to convert my 2004 Sedona van to a camper or buy a used camper van or a FayFeather to tow. A dealership service department is telling me my engine is damaged, making its trade-in value about nil. I have no other vehicle. I'm retired with fragile health but mostly mobile. My desire was to keep a small apartment near Pittsburgh where my elderly mom lives, while traveling three to four times per month very inexpensively. I'd like to visit many friends spread all over the country, but have no hotel bill nor move in on them while I'm there. I thought a small camper would be ideal for that. I also have two large dogs who ravel with me. I don't have much down payment money and my credit is only fair. Can anyone please advise me what to do from here? on.vacation Report post Posted April 2, 2014 First, I suggest that you get a second opinion on the engine damage. Second- if you have computer access, look online under used RVs. Maybe you will find something great. They even have internet sites where you can put in your dream RV and price and the sites look for it. Find what you want thru a google search. Also I suggest that you keep a highly visible emergency contact phone number or two in your vehicle or on your person. I keep 2 papers with me at all times- I keep a copy of the health questionnaire that my doctor had me fill out (shows my health history, diseases, hospitalizations & surgeries, doctors names, etc) as well as a copy of all my current meds in my purse- which I usually have on me. aztec7fan Report post Posted April 3, 2014 I would 2nd the previous comment about looking for a good used motorhome. If you will be traveling all around the country, you don't want to take the chances of being stranded with a questionable engine. Plus, for the cost of what you might need for the conversion, you might be able to find a nice used unit with all the amenities you need for about the same cost.
