pattexaco Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Will be traveling to Kennebunkport, ME in September and we have route figured to Scranton, PA. So, from Scranton planned on traveling I-84. Does anyone have a route suggestion? We are avoiding the New York and New Jersey areas.
0 obedb Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I-84 to the Mass Pike, exit at Auburn onto I-290, to I-495 north, to I-95 then North to Maine. 495 can get busy but it beats trying to go through Boston. There are some backroads, but be careful in New England. Low underpasses can be an issue. If your desire is to get to Maine with the least amount of trouble, the roads that I have listed really are the best way.
0 zorro2kita Report post Posted August 2, 2014 Agree with above poster - drove this route (I-84) several weeks ago - some construction and rough roads in spots but MUCH better than I-95 - do as indicated above and you will have no regrets !! Driving thru Hartford may try your patience though !! Have some "Lobstah" while in ME !!
