jgallego Report post Posted September 11, 2014 I was having some modifications done to the inside of my motorhome They noticed that my front driver side leaf springs were coming loose. The banding had come loose. I called Holiday World. They did not do these type of repairs. I asked them who did. They gave me some dealers. None of them would do it when I called them. One would be he said he was in a bad area of town and the motorhome would be broken into and I would have to sign a release not holding them liable. So I called Ford Motorhome Customer Assistance. Now I have to remind you I live in the Houston, Texas area. The technican called me back and said that Mac Haic and gave me the service managers name or Chastain Ford would do it. He left it on a voice mail for some reason my phone did not pick it up. I called him back and told him I would like Mac Haik to do the repair. So they called and had a wrecker pickup my motorhome at 8 am. For some reason I decided to take the day off and followed the wrecker to Mac Haik. Upon arriving the service manager stated they could not do the repair. They did not have the equipment to lift such a large vehicle. Now I had called Mac Haik the day before and talked to a lady and she had told me the same thing. I figured Ford must have talked to service manager and he said he would do it. So I called Ford back. They said I had to take it Chastain. They would quickly fix it and it would not have to be there long. The first trip to Mac Haik was arouind 40 miles. LUckily the wrecker driver waited so he towed it to Chastain. He we were met by a person from service telling us they could not do the job. I told them Ford had talked to them and they had approved it. He also meantioned it would probably be around three weeks before they could look at it and they were not in a safe neighborhood and it would more than likely be broken into. The wrecker driver found a comany in League City that could and was willing to do the repairs. So we were about to leave and they called back and said no they were not on the Ford Motorhome approved list. The closest place now was Beaumont, Tx which is not probably at least a 100 miles from Chastain Ford. I told Ford Customer Service I better not get there and them tell me they do not do this type of work. They assured me it would not happen this time. So two hours later we pull into Yates Auto & Truck Repair. It is not a big place but I beleive it will be secure there. They seemed real nice and appeared to know what they were doing. I was hoping it would be ready by tomorrow afternoon. They said it would Monday before they could look at it. Then they would write it up and send it to Ford for approval. Ford will take two days to approve the repair. So I am not happy about this. Hopefully all turns out well. I will let you know once the repairs are completed. I am shocked nobody in the Houston area could make the repair. When I bought it I was told by Holiday World there were quite a few warranty dealers in the area. Apparently this was not correct. I am just glad I was not travelling and broke down somewhere for a week. Jaime

wildebill308 Report post Posted September 15, 2014 Hope you got your problem resolved. Did they have any idea as to what caused the problem? Bill
jgallego Report post Posted September 16, 2014 It will not be ready until later this week. It looked like the band that holds them together had come loose and the leaf springs were moving apart out of alignment. They were waiting this morning for the approval from Ford to make the repairs. It has to have been defective as I only have about 1,700 miles on the coach.
Nedra Report post Posted September 25, 2014 Ford has changed their policy about using "authorized" non Ford dealers. I had a similar problem when our boot broke. I spoke with Ford & they said they would authorize Statkus Engines to do the work when we got back to NM. They even called Statkus & gave them a reference number. When we got there Statkus said Ford was refusing to approve the work. I've been fighting with Ford about it & have written a complaint to the BOD & now getting ready to fire off a letter to the TX Attorney General along with all the documentation I have regarding this situation. I have been told by several RV dealers that Ford is now requiring people to go to a Ford car/truck dealer & unless there is none within 40 miles that can service RV's they will not authorize the work. jgallego Report post Posted September 25, 2014 Ford did not cover the repair on the collar that holds the leaf springs. They claim that I hit something and that caused it. I have only driven the motorhome about 400 miles since I puchased it and I can guarantee that I have not hit anything that would have caused it to separate. They did cover under warranty a new battery and repair to the a/c.
