razordog Report post Posted April 20, 2015 I have a 2000 Gulf Stream Sun Voyager that has been in storage for 5 years.I know it was very neglectful of me to ignore it for so long but I had some health problems arise. So I ask that you please be gentle with me ... Prior to putting it in storage I did winterize it and prepare it for long-term storage. It has also been parked in a sheltered stall the entire time.I have driven it about once a year (but that is it) and I recently plugged it in to charge the batteries. My question: Is there anything special I should do or look for prior to starting the vehicle? hermanmullins Report post Posted April 20, 2015 razordog, Welcome tp the Forum. Inspect every thing rubber, Hoses, belt and Tires. Setting for 5 years plus driving it for one make the tire close to if not over the safe age for tires. I would super flushs the water system. Check every thing that is propane, water heater, stove, oven if ther is one and furnace. Have the engine and chassis serviced, oil and filter change, all other fluids and super lube. So clean her up and hit the roads. Herman
razordog Report post Posted April 20, 2015 Thanks for the reply hermanmullins, I guess my main concern is gas. Should I even try to start the engine - or have it towed somewhere and the gas drained and replace.
wolfe10 Report post Posted April 20, 2015 Remove the gas cap and SMELL IT. If it smells like gasoline you are good to go. If it has "turned" and has a varnish-like smell, drain and start over.
wildebill308 Report post Posted April 20, 2015 I would definitely look at the date code on the tires. Oil and filter change would be next. If the gas isn't to bad I would add a couple cans of Berreymans B-12 Cemtool. http://www.berrymanproducts.com/products/gasoline/b-12-chemtool-carburetor-fuel-system-and-injector-cleaner/ You should get a couple of extra fuel filters to have in case you have junk in the tank that will plug the filters. It would be helpful if you added your coach information to your signature and profile as it makes answering questions easier. Bill
