ronaldbrinley Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Charger was acting up. So I changed to new AGM batteries. Now the Charger will not let me change the battery type to AGM goes back to Gel1, seems to be working in this mode. Will it harm new batteries charging in this mode? wolfe10 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Ronald, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. In a word, YES, it will harm the AGM's. Your inverter/charger should have three programmable choices for battery technology: wet cell, AGM and gel. AGM and wet cell are VERY similar and while AGM is the preferred setting, wet cell will be very close. Gels are different and is really the only setting that could harm your batteries. ronaldbrinley Report post Posted August 16, 2015 I can not get the inverter to go to the wet cell charging mode. Seems to be stuck in the gel 1 mode. At a loss as to what to do. I guess I will try to call Xantrex on Monday and see what they say. Will turn off charger until then.
wolfe10 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Try to reset it by disconnecting the 12 VDC from it and turning off the 120 VAC breaker to it.

hermanmullins Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Brett can this be done by just disconnecting the shore power and disconnecting the batteries at the posts? Herman
wolfe10 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Herman, Really depends on how the inverter is wired to batteries, but if direct, yes. Note, a reset is not a "cure-all". But free and may work.
