fagnaml Report post Posted October 21, 2015 I recently had a chance to purchase a 2012 Mazda Miata that has an automatic transmission. It would be a great vehicle to have, in lieu of our Jeep Cherokee, when we venture out in our 2007 Damon Astoria. My Google research says a automatic transmission 2012 Miata should only be towed with all four wheels up on a car hauler. What advice / opinions do you have on towing a my type of Mazda Miata. Thanks for the help! Mike in Houston.
wolfe10 Report post Posted October 21, 2015 Mike, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. Couple of "gotta ya's": With rear wheel drive, tow dollies will not work. With automatic you need either to tow on a trailer or a drive shaft disconnect. I have no idea if there is a driveshaft disconnect made for your Miata, but would start here: http://www.remcodsc.com/driveShaft.php
hermanmullins Report post Posted October 21, 2015 Mike, Contact Either or both Blue OX and RoadMaster and see if they make base plates for the Miata. If they do then Contact David at Drive Shaft King in Dallas. David will know if a disconnect will work on the Miata. I will look up David's number and PM you.
