Country Coach

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a used 2007 Country Coach Affinity. I have found one for a decent price, but am wondering about them. The only reviews I have read are negative. Can anyone help?

Last year I bought a 2003 Country Coach Intrigue, and it suits me to a "T." I have been very impressed with the engineering, fit and finish, and though I do not have experience with other RVs (this is my first) I could not ask for more. Only trouble is, when I walk up to it, I always think some rich dude must live there. (I am not). Country Coach supplies two huge notebooks with systems information, schematics, everything you need to know what you are doing.

Anyway, to your question. Country Coach, like most RV builders, is having trouble, and popular opinion is they will close their doors soon. I have no opinion or knowledge about it, but feel it is probably true. If you are uncomfortable owning an "orphan" coach, with lack of warranty, then you may want to consider that. (Mine was out of warranty, so that was not a factor for me). Almost any coach builder these days is possibly in the same shape. Subsystems of all RVs are somewhat "generic" - Cummins engines, Allison Transmissions, brake and axle sub-assemblies, refrigerators and other stuff, and specialists are available to deal with any problem you might have. I had some work done by a Country Coach technician that had been laid off from the factories, and most good technicians can work through issues you might have.

Look here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Country-Coach-Owners/ for some insights.

You will see some issues about systems, but I think many of the problems they have are common to any RV make and model, and if you read between the lines you might see that some cause their own problems by not understanding how the systems work. I did that myself on a few occasions.

Hope this helps. If you buy a Country Coach I hope your experience is as good as mine has been.

truckr44,

Welcome to the FMCA Forum.

To add to Jack's excellent infomation, let me make a suggestion.

You are likely to get better answers if you ask specific questions.

That way people will know what you are concerned and be able to address those issues. Layout, CCC, drivetrain, warranty, etc.

If you include how you plan to use the coach (i.e. full time, tail gating, occasional weekend) that may help in focusing the answers on YOUR needs.

Welcome to FMCA and the forum. I to looked at the Country Coach, didn't much care for the dealer though so I bought a Beaver instead. If this coach is close by go take a look and try out all the systems, drive it around town and on the freeway. Then get yourself an RV inspector to really look it over.

What kind of deal are they offering? Are they going to do a complete PDI? Are they going to fix the problems they find? If you're out in the western part of the country I can recommend these folks:

I used an inspector listed on the website and was, and still am, happy with the service I received.

Happy trails.

I travel on occasion with a local friend who bought a new 2007 Affinity in late 2006. His is not for sale and is a beautiful coach. However the problems, mostly electrical systems, have been ongoing even into our last trip together in August. These are very complicated coaches with remotes to operate the window coverings etc. His mumbling was a bit theatric including the words push...cliff..........

The other issue that is out there is the PTO driven by the Allison Transmission problem. There is an offered fix, but because of the bankruptcy, the cost and details are on the owner. The Paint Department in Chino, CA can give you more info and can fix the problem.

You might want to visit the Yahoo site for Country Coach owners and post some of your questions.Country Coach Owners

Green Beaver,

Sorry about the toad ande thanks for the information on rvsurvey.

I have already emailed them and chatted with Dave, so when I am ready to buy, I will certainly use them, since this will be my first coach and I will get a lesson about rv ownership.
