btchant Report post Posted June 19, 2016 This may sound dumb but how can I tell what type of material is on may roof? I am removing the old caulking from the seam between the front cap and the roof and want to make sure that I am using the correct material to caulk it back up. Some caulks advise you not to use it on epdm roof so how do you know for sure what type of stuff you have up there?
desertdeals69 Report post Posted June 19, 2016 What brand of coach do you have? What does the roof material look like? If it is smooth and can dent with you fingernail easily and return smooth it could be rubber. If it does that then use Dicor self leveling caulk.
five Report post Posted June 19, 2016 As desertdeals690 noted, the key is which roof you have. Rubber or fiberglass. Call the coach builder, they can tell you.
rsbilledwards Report post Posted June 19, 2016 My two bits is that the rubber is smooth and the fiberglass is textured at least on my two Safari coaches. I am sure that if you are pulling up the old caulk the rubber would give quite a bit, the fiberglass is not very flexible at all. You should use the etherbond, very sticky tape over the joint and then the Dicor self leveling caulk. Bill
