  1. Mine is electric motor operated. Little motor, big slide, lots of amperage. Sorry, I didn't think of a brake.
  2. Wayne, I think a bunch of folks are shy. or they are underwhelmed by our sunny dispositions. Seriously, I wish that some of the viewers would jump in and discover the fun.
  3. I also have a Fleetwood MH and it has three interlocks which should prevent slide deployment while underway. Call Fleetwood at 800-322-8216. They still have service in Decatur IN and those folks know their stuff. If you are near Atlanta call the folks at Apalachee RV Center 770.868.0999.
  4. Just across the Arkansas state line in Missouri is a neat little campground you might be interested in.Click here
  5. Apparently, Fleetwood filed Chapter 11 today. They are trying to sell the RV and manufactured homes divisions. Some of us may have real collector's items.
  6. Gramps my money was much better spent on the motorhome than on the AIG retirement account we HAD. I no longer call my Bounder a hole in the driveway. In fact with this economy, it is our fall back for comfortable living. Heck, I'm happiest on the road anyway.
  7. One of the best places to find volunteer opportunities is Volunteer.gov. Also if you like adventure contact your local Red Cross Disaster Services director. You may also want to check out your local elderly services.
  8. Where's everyone working this summer? We'll be in Newport Oregon from June 1 - September ?
  9. These are the people we have used for some time AON Insurance. They have been very easy to deal with. Don't forget, RV insurance is a different animal. You need to make sure that your RV insurance is very similar to a homeowners policy and covers your contents for a number of problems from theft to flood.
  10. Greetings all. I'm Ward (Roodriver) and my bride is Pat. We are retired science teachers and started out backpacking and sleeping on the ground in a small tent. We were married on the Appalachian Trail and graduated from tent camping to a slide in truck camper, then to a 25' Georgie Boy Class A, and now to a 35' Bounder gasser. We like to workcamp for three to five months and prefer National Wildlife Refuges. We have made a lot of friends in our workcamping and keep in touch with many of them. The way we like to travel is kind of foreign to a lot of RVers, since we prefer to stay off the Interstates and stick to local and US highways. We are headed to Oregon this summer and will take US2 from Michigan to Washington, with many side trips. The trip is planned to take six to seven weeks. By the way, our home base is in Suches, Georgia.
  11. RV park reviews has worked great for us. I think it has helped us stay out of some dumps and questionable security areas.
  12. A 1/4 cup of bleach per 15 gallons of tank capacity held for four hours will sanitize your system. Don't forget to pump through the water pump until you can smell the bleach. Three rinses with a pause of thirty minutes between filling and dumping should get rid of the bleach taste. Make sure to pump through the system. A closed system shouldn't get contaminated......... BUT if you add contaminated water, you have contaminated the system. If you don't clean the ends of your hose and fasten male to female for storage you risk contamination when you reconnect. I've watched guys drag their hoses next to the dump inlet and then just stick them in the bay. Since water weighs 8.3 pounds per gallon, i rarely travel with more than 1/2 tank unless getting ready to boondock.
  13. One place to look is in Elkhart IN at some of the surplus places. We're on our second coach with Flexsteel seats and I'm comfortable as can be. They fit my big rearend fine. You don't say what is wrong with your seats, but one option may be to take them to a good automotive interior shop and have them rebuilt.
  14. Migratory Waterfowl
