If your close to Decatur, IN.  That's the manufacturing plant.  Texas is a Service Center, that's only as good as the local help.  Not Amish.

These two posts are my experience exactly.  Decatur was great, fixed what they were supposed to fix as well as another item I did not even mention...without charge.  I've been to Alvarado three times...horrible experience, didn't fix what was to have been fixed, attempted to fix other items that didn't stay fixed and refused to order parts until I got there...thus they never arrived.  When the part finally arrived they mailed to me (because I was on a schedule and left) and I fixed that problem myself.  Hope I never have to go there again.

I like  to complain about anything and everything but I have never had an issue with speed and this site.  I only use cellular connections so no ground based internet and I don't run any ad blockers so I always see the side bar ads.  Despite these shortcomings the site opens just about as fast as any other forum I visit.

The speed I mentioned in my initial post referred to the opening of the FMCA site.  Once on the site and on the forum the speed is fine.  I timed it today, from the time I clicked on the FMCA link until it opened was 20 seconds.  All the other forum open without the last zero on that number.

Ray, you may be correct however lots of folks said the same thing about flat panel TVs. Besides almost all of the coach makers have gone to Residential Units in their coaches.

We love the one I installed and it hasn't skipped a beat once.

    Herman

Same here...virtually no mention of broken residential refers on any forums I'm on..or flat screen TVs for that matter.

  4. We had a very similar noise coming from under the passenger's seat in an 09 AC Allegiance, with a Spartan chassis, we bought new.

After numerous checks by numerous facilities, it was discovered there were a number of factory welds missing on that side.

Also, the dealer (now out of business), had the coach checked before we bought it, discovered the problem, but neglected to tell us about it.

  5. Of the main ERS providers, AAA would be last on my list.  They have a track record of not sending a big enough tow truck or a well enough trained driver, to haul off one of these big rigs.  I presently have GS...called them twice, they responded twice with the right equipment, the right guy, to the right place in a timely manner.  AAA would be fine for a car/SUV, not a MH.

Did you happen to get the date code of the blown tire? The tire was minimally 6 years old but most likely was 7 years old or more. Did you only replace the blown tire or all of them?

I keep wondering about Tireman, he has been noticeably absent since all the questions have come up.

Yes, it was an 08 tire.  Emergency road service replaced the one that blew (an $800 Michelin)...then we traded the coach.

Both of my Magnum 2800's charges only my 8 house batteries.  Have a trickle charger on my Engine batteries (2- 12Volt).  All are AGM's.  I did leave the coach inverter on and had no problems for 3 years...that was in a garage with 20A, 120V electric!  Now, I'm on 50A all the time, even if the electric goes off, then the 22KW generator back up system comes on.

Aren't your Magnums set to let the charge go through the coach batteries and charge the chassis batteries once the charge gets to be 13.3 or higher?  That's they way mine work.

FIVE.  Read my post...word for word in ref to coaches of 40' with tag...I know of 2, Newmar and Foretravel is the other!  So, you don't misunderstand, Foretravel has 3 lines of coaches they make!

There is one other, but I generally don't include it, due to $$$$, that is Newell...38 foot to 47 foot with steering Tag!

My comments were not directed at you...read my post word for word...it says "general comments.":D

  9. I read where the powers that be are revamping the forum.  I hope they can do something about the speed.  Clicking on forum and it takes a  long time to open.  Same thing for a link or backing out of a link.  I'm on a number of forums....none are as slow as this one.

  10. Re sun exposure.  In Dec 2010 we bought a new 2009 MH.  Naturally we did not see it until we'd owned it for a while, but it had been sitting so long facing south, the large wall opposite our big double windows, facing the west Texas sun, had faded.  In May 2015, the RF tire blew out.

The engine is ONLY working with the engine on, so driven miles are all that counts.

Agree.  However, I log towed miles and total them with the miles driven in order to rotate the tires at the correct time.  Honda says to change the transmission fluid earlier, too.

....Most coaches have a outlet in the engine bay for the Block Heater. When the coach is on shore power or the generator is running the plug is hot. When disconnected or the gen. is off the plug is dead...

    Herman

I realize this issue has been solved, but as a point of clarification, that all coaches are not the same, I have a similar plug in the power cable bay for the block heater.  However, my plug must be activated by a switch in the rear of the MH.  It is a regular wall switch, that glows red when activating the plug in the aft bay.

  13. Some general comments, lots of info here, all is not correct for all coaches:
    -  All 40' and over coaches do not have tags, and a majority of 40' coaches are really about 40'11".
    -  Some tags wheel bases are the same length as their non tag coaches...just more aft over hang.
    -  I would not pay much attention to wheelbase listings on brochures.  The correct way to measure a wheelbase is front hub to dually hub.  Fleetwood, at least AC, measures front hub to the mid distance between the dually hub and the tag hub.  I questioned them on that and all I got was a tap dance.

Here is an example of sidewall cracking that didn't go away after it started 5 years before this picture. Covered most of the time and wiped down with 303. Just saying I would need to see more evidence of the cracks disappearing when driven.  Next time take some pictures before and after.:)

This side wall cracking is much different and larger than the 'cracks' in my Michelins I noted earlier.  My cracks were not longitudinal and much smaller in size, more like a spider crack in a windshield...and not deep enough to get a finger nail or virtually anything else inside.  Obviously we are talking about two entirely different types and sizes of cracks.  If it happens again, I'll take a picture.

    Ray,

I agree with you-- suspect the attendee misunderstood the tire seminar presenter. Hope that is the case rather than the presenter giving bad information.

The emoluments in tires that help protect it from cracking do migrate to the surface when driven and do help protect the tire from cracking.

But there is no "cure" for cracking.

So it is a matter of slowing down the process that one achieves by proper "care and feeding" of their tires.

No misunderstanding.  The presenter was asked several questions from those of us with Michelins.  He reiterated his comments as being the facts as he got them from Michelin.  The cracking is not the tires themselves, but the additive in the tire.   Many in the seminar remained skeptical, however, as noted in my earlier post, the cracking in my tires disappeared after driving on them.  In response to an earlier poster mentioning Michelin replacing them after cracking....I would think they would do that when the cracking would not disappear after driving on them.
