  1. Gentleman, thanks for all your suggestions. I found out the problem was not the air pressure alarm. It turned out to be the low water alarm. Found a severe leak in the radiator. Will be at a motel in Conroe.

Thanks again for all the quick response from everyone.

What is leaking? Where? How did you get a big leak sitting at home?

  2. It sounds like it is catching as it starts in. I would call the manufacture and see if there is a fix. I remember reading about a fix but don't remember all the details. The problem as I remember is the slide didn't lift fast enough to clear the edge of the floor when it started in.

It could also be out of adjustment. What make slide mechanism do you have?

To get better answers it is recommended to put your coach details in your signature.

  3. If you have hookups leave the gray water valve open. It won't hurt anything and you can run the washer without overflowing your tank. I dump the black tank as needed. I like to add extra water before dumping then use the tank sprayer to make sure it was empty.

I stayed at several campgrounds this summer that didn't have sewer at the site. You learn to be very water aware.

  4. If you ask how much something costs you may not be able to afford it. Maintenance is going to be a wash over time, you need to ask yourself : what kind of trips will I take, lots of short trips or long trips, mountain of not, and for us the more important question that we asked ourselves was the floor plan, and as it turns out everything we thought we didn't want we got and love it.

Oh and I get 6.9 -7.3 mpg avg.

Thank you for your input but the OP probably has made his mind up as this thread is a year+ old. This is one of those questions that will come up almost as often as questions on fuel mileage.

  5. I don't know if yours is the same as my Bounder. Try lifting the bed-- you may have to pull the aft part of the bed frame. There is a section with carpet on it that will pull out toward the passenger side and lift up. Under that is a panel with some screws in it like the closet floor.

    Good luck

  6. Welcome to the forum.

You have 2 very reliable indicators as to when your tanks are absolutely full. You can tell when the gray water tank has reached it's max capacity by looking in the shower, if you have water in the bottom of the shower and it won't go down your gray water tank is full. If you flush the commode and it doesn't go down, well you waited just a little to long to dump.

Seriously are you at a RV park with hookups or some place where you have to move to use the dump station? If your tanks are filling up to fast you either have to dump or do a better job of water management.

"My question is when the led light hits the full mark how much more room do I have?" To many variables between coaches. The only way you might come up with a number is to fill the tanks to where the lights show full then use a 5 gallon bucket keep adding till you reach absolute full.

  7. Roadmaster will check every one of their tow bars for free. They go around and inspect everyone that has one of theirs and if there is a problem they will take care of it.

Interesting that I have never seen them or seen advertising saying they offer that service at rally's or shows. I did not see them at Perry Ga. this last time. I will be at the FMCA 6 state in Conroe next month and I will look for them.

  8. Hello-o-o-o-o, Randall Stone !! I knew your grandparents many years ago when I was in the Northeast Chapter of the FMCA. Alas, both are passed from this Earth...and their Flxible is supposedly taken to a service station in Hudson, Mass. now. The very last time I visited Bud and Audrey, well - Audrey was in mid-to-advanced stage of Alzheimer's Disease. She sat at the kitchen table hardly knowing me from a previous visit although Bud was doing OK and reminding Audrey of my presence. I never had time to visit them again, and two weeks ago I looked up several friends from better times. I've lost many of them due to old age and other effects, so one day soon I'll try to start a page for older members dead or alive who were or still are in the FMCA membership. I'm glad to meet you through this forum, and I hope we can communicate regularly before long. I'm Ralph Baker, 'Associate' member A001519 from 1972 through 1979, just renewed for the stated purpose two days ago. Cheers !! :)

Once gain this is a 3 year old post. It unlikely they are following it.

  9. I am having the same problem everyone else is. I just got off the phone with Michelin and they 235/80R22.5 are still not on the production list for the next four weeks. There is not a whole lot of clearance in my front wheel wells and I am concerned about going to anything other than what is on there. How much clearance did you have?

Welcome to the forum vgsully. It is simple enough go to the Michelin web site in this case for the XRV http://www.michelinrvtires.com/tires/selector/#!/info/xrv

Here are the main things you will need to match in a different brand.

Overall Diameter 37.1 in, Overall Width 9.2 in, Max Load Per Tire Single 4675/110 lbs/psi, Max Load Per Tire Dual 4410/110 lbs/psi

All you have to do is match with, diameter and load range.

    Good year says 235/80R22.5 = 245/75R22.5

  10. To 'ctcamper' above - Hahahahahaha....!! And to Dan & Donna - if you ever pass through northeast Rhode Island via I-295, I'm in Cumberland just a few short minutes walking distance from 295. I watched it get built in the 1960s. Just returned to FMCA membership yesterday after a 35-year absence, now wondering where my friends from 1972 to 1979 are. Likely there aren't many remaining in the Northeast Chapter, so now I want to start a page listing the first 16,000 members. Perhaps a few will come out of the woodwork and reply here. Cheers !! P.S., I don't know people by their IDs here, much prefer the older versions. I'm Ralph Baker A001519.

You did notice this is a 3 year old post.

  11. As a rule, a male fitting on your coach is for putting air INTO the coach. A female fitting on your coach is for taking air OUT of the coach. If there is no fitting on an air line which has a shutoff valve, it is an air tank moisture drain.

Not always, The female chuck in the front of your coach is so the tow truck can connect a air hose. They use a task made hose that has male fittings on both ends.

  12. Just got back from our trip to Michigan and found that my "Tow Protector" (nylon mesh gizmo that fits onto tow bar) has melted directly above the exhaust pipe. Our coach is 2005 Dutch Star with 400 cat and the exhaust is a chrome turn down pointed 45 deg down and to the passenger side. Evidently, at speeds, the exhaust heat is being blown up somehow to overheat the mesh. I am thinking of doing two things: putting an extension on and also contacting the manufacturer to see if they have one rated for reentry temps. :)

We also have our Jeep tires get much hotter on the passenger side than the drivers side due to the diesel exhaust. But, I can still lay my hand on them, so I think it is okay.

That exhaust pipe gets HOT you might try adding a heat shield over it. Adding an extension probably won't make that much difference.

  13. I was doing some reading on this subject. Both Cat and Cummins say you don't need any additives. The big caveat is "if the fuel meets the required standards." Now how do we know if the fuel meets all the requirements? Now it is interesting that Cat says that additives will not improve performance but may "restore" performance. They now recommend 256-4968 Caterpillar fuel conditioner can improves mileage by 2-3%. They also recommend, 343-6210 Caterpillar Fuel system cleaner.

Cummins only approves products manufactured by Cummins or it’s subsidiaries.

    https://www.cumminsfiltration.com/pdfs/product_lit/americas_brochures/LT32599_08.pdf

So while saying you don't need additives they sell and recommend them.

I am going to continue to run the Fleetguard Asphaltene Conditioner or Diesel Kleen.

  14. edsugghd,

    Welcome to the forum.

I would go read the information that rlbarkleyii posted. You might want to change your practices.

    rlbarkleyii,

Thanks for posting that link I have seen it before but couldn't find my link.

I think it is interesting that the thing most of us hate is one of the best things to do for lubricity, I am talking about running a Biodiesel mix. I find it is hard to find a place that isn't selling at lest 5% and have seen as high as 50%.

Well on my old 03 Cummins I run Diesel clean more for the clean but adding to the lubricity can't hurt.
