  1. Just want a longer one to get the connections away from moisture. The connector is labeled "Marinco". No clue if it is original or not
  2. Seems that Walmart has the best price just now. I would just like to know what that end is; the extension cord connects inside the wet bay and occasionally causes GFI outlets to trip. I would imagine the wire would be good for 150 amp at this size, smaller would be easier to deal with.
  3. Can anyone provide the NEMA spec for the end that plugs into the coach? Somewhere in the past ours got whacked down to about 24" long. To overcome this, a huge gauge piece of 4 conductor SO cord was made into an extension cord. I would like to make a much lighter one up about 15' long with #6 4 conductor SO. This moose is big around as my wrist and 40 foot long.
  4. Will definitely join FMCA after I recover from this Ad-Valorem and Tag purchase! Need to draw another payday first. Looks like the Perry Ga. thing might be the one for us... I really like that "Look ten years younger in ten minutes" thing!
  5. So what about the seminars at the FMCA rally? I am somewhat of a hands on guy; partially due to financial necessity and partially due to being a "tech" kinda guy. What subjects are covered? Seems like if I drive this beast thru ATL why ever would I need a driving class?? Talk about trial by fire... We made it Thru about half the coach this weekend; very pleasantly surprised at the electrical documentation that was passed along.
  6. Just bought our first "New to us" 1996 Beaver Monterey. We made a bee line home, emptied out the ttt and headed to our favorite USACOE park. One by one, we are checking systems. Is there anything particular we should be sensitive to just now?
  7. Still trying to educate myself here.... last couple I looked at had "Air over hydraulic brakes" I have researched all of the theory... now to the practical. How practical is this? Are parts easy to get? Would it be easier in the long run to just get a coach with air brakes?
  8. OK... our next candidate is a 1994 Allegro Bay M35 with a 230 hp Cummins, 4 speed Allison and Oshkosh chassis. Am I correct that Freightliner bought Oshkosh? And can I expect to get parts for this from the nice folks in Gaffney? Can anyone point out the weak points of this coach? What would be a treasonable expectation to install exhaust brakes on this machine? Where would I go to discover the towing capacity?
  9. It has been sheltered, I am looking to discover here, if possible, if there were particular problematic issues with this model.... I understand there will be issues associated with decay due to time.... Cure dates on rubber parts etc. Can I expect to be able to obtain replacment parts for the drivetrain and chassis? Does anyone know how exhaustive the documentation was provided with the coach? Will I have problems obtaining service information if only users information was provided with the sale?
  10. First, thanks for allowing me to post here... My request for membership in the Beaver forums was rejected for whatever reason. I am looking at a 1990 Beaver Contessa and seeking wisdom...I am not new to purchasing a RV but definitely new to class A. Looking for people who can provide insight on the "personality" of these coaches. Where are the bones buried? I suspect it will have a Cat 3208 with something called a"Gillig" chassis.... I fancy myself as a competent mechanic, but very new/green to diesel and air chassis.... What do I need to be sensitive to when I go look?
