  1. went to the state park there, they wanted $30per day, no week or monthly rates, we were looking for a place in that area to stay for a month, but not at $900. Only found one campground that was ok , but they were full for another 3 weeks. gary
  2. Were fulltiming in a 06 Damon Challenger, on a 05 W22. I don't notice the tail wag but a times feels like a rock and role. I just felt if I had a sway bar on the rear it would help. I'm sure the manufactures put the leat possible on their chassis. Since it doesn't have a sway bar now I wasn't sure if one could be put on it. Gary
  3. I've been pondering putting a sway bar on my 2005 Workhorse chassis. The motorhome doesn't have any on it. The factory rep said it's not needed (they have something that acts like one). RIGHT. I was wondering if anyone has had one installed on their motorhome with a Workhorse chassis, and did it help? Thanks much. Gary
  4. Wow sounds familiar, we have been married 44years,45 in June. Put our house up for sale in June and sold it Dec 11. Haven't been fulltimeing long. Plan on five years to see if we like it or not. Most people I talk to say something of the same thing and ended up fulltiming for 10 or more years, we will see, just knew if I didn't do it I would always wonder if I should have. I bounced back and forth if I should sell or not, finally the wife said I need to make a decision on what were going to do. Decided to put the house on the market, if it sold we fulltime if not we stay put, were fulltiming. been at this campground in FL. a month and will probably stay another month. Funny you mentioned music, I'm learning to play the guitar, I have a hollowbody electric, have all the books etc. My daughters boyfriend in Miss. is realy good at the guitar, violin, etc. he plays with other groups in the area. Every time we go to visit we practice, he has been teaching me a lot. My granddaughter is taking lessions, shes moving along fast. Maybe we'll cross paths sometime. Gary
  5. Dan , I too am a Navy Vet. 4 years active. Almost shipped over but got married instead. 1st year boot camp and training I was a radioman. 2 years in Hawaii, Admir. personal radioman. (Hawaii, I know, but someone had to do it). Last year on the USS Navasota, home port Long Beach CA. We spent half our time in the Phill. and the tonka gulf in V.N. The ship only took one hit from shore. Someone thought they could sink us with a motor shell. A little paint, good as new. gary
  6. Ive found it depends on the chapter,we tried to contact a chapter in FL. to attend there rally, e-mailed them, no response, a week later called by phone and left message, no response. just happened to be in the area where the rally was being held and showed up (i know bad move) tried to contact the person in charge, (guess what they werent there, right). Ive found that there are some chapters that just dont want other fmca members that are not a member of there local one to attendl. so fare we havent been able to attend any local chapter rallys. this will be my last compaint, ill not bother any of you-all again. gary
  7. Thanks a bunch. I'm going to check out their Web site. Sounds like something that will work for us. Now I won't wear out my shoes going back and forth. gary
  8. I know this topic has probably been beat to death, but I'm getting real tired of having to tote my laptop to the office just to be able to get on the Internet. (Ok, I'm lazy.) All to often we end up at a spot too far away to get a strong enough signal. It seems to me that some company out there makes a booster to increase the signal a little, at least be able to receive a good enough one for the laptop to work. I don't know a lot about computers. I just know when I turn it on it should work (probably in a dream world). Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Gary
  9. Hi, all. Well, we have planned to full-time for about two years now. When it happened you would have thought we never planned at all. We closed Dec. 11 and planned on sitting on a warm beach (were in branson mo. 19-32 deg. ice, snow and COLD weather), out of propane, elect. heaters working full time keeping the temp. at around 58 to 60. plan on going to mississippi to visit our daughter when the snow melts. she said its 40deg there, much better. planning on working our way to florida in a few weeks. we didnt think the house would sell so soon, i had winterized the rig. since its been cold i just left it winterized. we use bottled water and a water jug to flush to toilet. working out better than i thought it would. i guess we havent settled in the fulltime mode, doesnt feel like it , so far its been a real pain, but i see it settleing down soon. If anyone can shoot some good advice this was on a good way to settle in on the fulltime mode im all ears. Thanks. Gary
  10. HI WE ALSO HAVE A DAMON (CHALLENGER) WE WILL BE FULLTIMERS AS OF DEC 11, 09 (SOON). WE TRIED TO FIND A CHAPTER ANYWHERE FOR DAMON BUT WAS UNABLE TO. THE MANUFACTURE ONLY KNEW OF FMCA BUT LIKE YOU SAY THEY DONT HAVE ONE EITHER. I GUESS THERE NOT TO POPULAR (I HAPPEN TO LIKE MINE), BUT IF YOU GET IT OFF THE GROUND LET ME KNOW I WOULD LIKE TO JOIN. I THINK FOR THE MONEY THERE A GOOD ONE GARY
  11. Thanks everyone for the info. Were dealing with an insurance company now. Our house closes Dec 11, when we cancel our insurance on the house and vehicles we will be without ins. We are setting up a mail forwarding address now, should be complete next week. Probably will have the ins. started on Dec 1. I think there are a million things that have to be done in only 2 1/2 weeks. But we will make it just like all the other people before us. Hope to see many of you in our travels Gary
  12. I have a 2006 motorhome on a 2005 workhorse chassis. I don't see a sway bar on the rear. I was wondering if anyone has installed one on their motorhome, or is it possible? I saw that Roadmaster makes some but didn't see one for the Workhorse chassis. Thanks. Gary
  13. I don't know if this is the right place to ask the question, but we're new to FMCA and will be starting full-timing on Dec 11. House will be closing escrow. Our motorhome is insured by Progressive, but our car is insured with Shelter. Progressive wants TOP dollar for the car and doesn't want to give much of any discount for a second vehicle. We were wondering who you are insured with and if you are satisfied with them. We will be getting our mail from S.D. and sending the paperwork in this week. Looks like it's going to be a whirlwind of a month. Thanks. Gary
  14. Hi, everyone. We're new to FMCA, hope to be full-timing very soon, have a couple of offers on our house (we'll see how it all turns out). My question is, does anyone know of some good places to stay in the Clearwater area of Florida? Im planning on attending the RV show from Jan. 15 to 17 and a WSR class on the 20th. Length of our motorhome is 37 feet, in case there a some length restrictions. Thanks. Gary
