rpbuttery Report post Posted October 30, 2016 I store my 2011 Allegro Open Road RED in Central Florida for six months during late Fall/Winter/early Spring. I know the diesel fuel tank should be stored full. What about the DEF tank and the LP gas tank? Does it matter if they are full? I take the motorhome out for an hour or so spin once a month, and run the generator with the air conditioners on at the same time. Is a fungicide necessary in the diesel fuel tank? wolfe10 Report post Posted October 30, 2016 LP makes no difference in terms of level. I WOULD add a BIOCIDE. A popular one is Biobor JF. Marine stores carry it. In our area (Gulf coast) Academy carries it.
five Report post Posted October 30, 2016 As Brett noted, you need a biocide for sure, especially in Florida, if storing your coach that long. Valvtect is another favorite, all are carried by West Marine. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/valvtect--bioguard-fuel-micro-biocide-16-oz--255739?cm_mmc=PS-_-MSN-_-Shopping PLAs-_-255739&creative=73873452164336&device=c

rpbuttery Report post Posted October 31, 2016 Thanks for the info, folks. Does the level of DEF in DEF tank matter in storage?
manholt Report post Posted October 31, 2016 No. If it's down, just leave it and add more later, that stuff don't last forever. Chemically, it's the same as urine and distilled water .
wildebill308 Report post Posted October 31, 2016 rpbuttery, You may find this interesting reading. It looks to me like you are ok to store it in the coach tank over the winter. https://www.cumminsfiltration.com/sites/default/files/MB10033.pdf Bill
manholt Report post Posted October 31, 2016 Bill. Per the new and improved Federal Regulations, if any Tech in any shop, should detect (don't know how they would know) that the DEF is home made, they shall contact the Fed's immediately, refuse to service unit, or it's a up to $10,000 fine for shop! Off course if some one urinated in tank, call Hazmat..LOL. The Fed's want their Tax!
