Lindyaz53 Report post Posted August 16, 2018 I have a 2007 Itasca Spirit and can't get the generator to start. I am a complete newbie so I am sure I am overlooking something. I checked the salesman switch by the door.I removed the maintenance cover and no power is getting to the on/off switch at the generator. What could I be missing? There is power to the slide but not the lights in the coach. The circuit breaker at the generator appears to be on. If forward is on that is.

What is the model number of your coach -31-c or something else and what chassis is it built on? Rich

dickandlois Report post Posted August 17, 2018 You mentioned - No generator start and no internal lights. What is the charge / voltage level for the coach and chassis batteries? I have not located any information directly related to the generator starting circuit wiring ! This is a link to the Owners manual for your model coach. http://winnebagoind.com/resources/manuals/pdfs/Operator2007/07Spirit.pdf NOTE ! To use the 120-volt generator, plug the power cord into the generator receptacle within the utility compartment before starting the generator. This is the same power cable used to connect the coach to the shore power riser !!!!! This is a list of the standard electrical setup for your model and year coach. jleamont Report post Posted August 17, 2018 Does it turn over and not start? If so how long did you hold the start switch before releasing it? Our C the generator was up front and the fuel source is in the rear, if it sat a while unused it would crank for a long time before fuel could react the generator. I can remember a good 15-20 seconds before it would sputter, usually stall out, then again on the start switch for 5 seconds before it would start.
richard5933 Report post Posted August 17, 2018 But if the interior lights don't work, it sounds like nothing more than a dead house battery. The slide probably works from the chassis battery, but I'd bet that the generator starts from the house battery. Put a meter on the battery and see what the voltage is. Lindyaz53 Report post Posted August 17, 2018 Thanks so much for all the asistance. I think this is now officially over my head and I will have to play the woman card and get some help at the dealer. I have tried the manual and the fuses I can find. There is no power at all getting to the generator as the indicator light isn't coming on. But I so appreciate all of your suggestions. megadiesel Report post Posted August 19, 2018 Have you started the main engine and then tried the interior lights and generator? Also check if you have a house battery disconnect switch.
