chollenback Report post Posted April 21, 2019 I have a 1995 Safari Sahara and I noticed today that the "paint" was peeling on top of the roof. I was able to peel back some of this "paint" to discover a brand new torqoise color. The "paint does not feel like paint but ore of a thin "rubber" material. I did some research and I am confused. I found that the Safari Roof is a Filon Roof "Pebble fiberglass". I want to repaint roof but unsure of what to use (Do I use Marine Paint, rubber sealant, etc.,) I want to do it right but not sure what to do. DO I rip off stuff on it now and restart or just go over it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
dickandlois Report post Posted April 22, 2019 I did find this information that might help. Not sure of using it on the roof ? https://www.cranecomposites.com/pdf/65000.pdf The real issue might be how much water damage was done before you have a good handle on what the project might require. wolfe10 Report post Posted April 22, 2019 Sounds like the previous owner had the roof coated. So, first order of business is to find out what it is-- either from previous owner or from a tech who does roof coatings.

moonwink Report post Posted April 22, 2019 I saw a discussion of this product recently on Trek Tracks. You might find it what you need to cover the Filon. https://www.epdmcoatings.com/
