Looking for tire shop, diesel service recommendations in Mesa AZ

Recommended Posts

We are RV newbies, and recently bought a new to us 2000 National Tradewinds motor coach in Mesa, Arizona. We would like to have the tires changed and diesel maintenance service done before we bring it home to Oklahoma.  Does anyone know of a reputable place that can do both (preferably), or either of these services in the Mesa, Arizona area?

Welcome to the forum. Is it a private sale or did you buy it from a dealer?

The first thing I would do is look at the FMCA tire discount program. I used it last year to save over $600.00 over the discount price for Michilans by buying Continentals. You can call and find tire dealers in your area. https://www.fmca.com/rv-tires-discounts

What diesel do you have? What do you need done?

Lafery,

As Bill said welcome to the Forum. On the FMCA Michelin tire program they list dealers in a particular area. You might check there for a dealer. When you find one ask them if they know of a good shop to have a PM (Preventive Maintenance) done on an RV.

Good luck and if you find a good on be sure and list it here so others can add them to their list.

Once you identify a shop in your area, there is absolutely nothing wrong with driving out there in your car to check things out before arranging to bring your RV in for service. Talk with the service manager, ask questions, get a feel for whether or not they're qualified to work on your RV. There are some tire shops that will do an occasional RV or truck, but they are mainly automotive tire dealers. Then there are the commercial tire shops who work on larger vehicles every day, all day. That's what you're aiming for - a shop that is knowledgeable and equipped to handle a vehicle the size of your coach and to get it done right the first time.

I'd also suggest that you might get better service separating the tire service from the engine maintenance. Go to a tire dealer for the tires, go to a shop certified to work on your chassis/drive train for the engine maintenance. Assuming you have a Freightliner chassis, there are going to be at least a few places in your area that are qualified to work on it.

Lafery --

Welcome to the wonderful world of motorhome ownership and welcome to the Forum.  You will find many very knowledgeable and friendly forum members that are always willing to help.  If I interpret your post correctly, you are looking for a business that can provide tires and perform routine engine oil and filters changes before you drive your "new to you" motorhome from Mesa, AZ to your home in Oklahoma.

One suggestion is take your motorhome to a Love's Travel Center that provides tire and oil change services.   Per the Love's website, there are two Love's Travel Centers in the greater Phoenix area that provide tire and oil change services --> https://www.loves.com/en/location-and-fuel-price-search/locationsearchresults#?state=AZ&amenities=CommercialTruckOilChange,NationalTireAccount

It would be good to call those locations to confirm that they would change oil and filters on a motorhome.
