lylefikse Report post Posted September 7, 2019 We have a 2018 Newmar Dutch Star 4369 with the Oasis heating system. We have something going on that makes it very hot in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. This is only the case when the Oasis is running, either on electric or the burner. I have checked the bypass switch and it is in the right position. Thinking maybe a bad check valve. What do you think? Anyone else with this problem?
hermanmullins Report post Posted September 7, 2019 lyle, it could be there is inadequate insulation in your Aqua Hot unit. Just for grins lay a layer of some sort of insulation on top of the unit to see if that cut down on the heat. If so it may warrant a call to Aqua Hot. 800-685-4298 Herman
richard5933 Report post Posted September 7, 2019 Is your Oasis just below the kitchen sink? Has it done this since you got the coach or is it a new thing?
hermanmullins Report post Posted September 7, 2019 I am sorry Don, I missed the Oasis in you question. But the same would apply. Sorry I can't locate their number. Herman
elkhartjim Report post Posted September 8, 2019 You have a pump running constantly. Check the switch on top of the silver control box and you will probably find its been turned on. Turn it off.
andyshane Report post Posted September 8, 2019 I'm a brand-new Newmar owner, longtime RV'er. My wife noticed this during the inspection; technical guru giving us the orientation said it was inherent to DSDPs of our vintage. I missed his explanation, but noticed a lot of electronics there. Mine is hot, whether or not the Oasis is on.
elkhartjim Report post Posted September 8, 2019 It is not an inherent problem for DSDP's or VTDP's. Maybe this link will help. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/getting-hot-under-kitchen-sink-from-oasis-439468.html http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/excessive-heat-kitchen-area-under-sink-427563.html
lylefikse Report post Posted September 13, 2019 Our problem was a stuck check valve. I hit it a few times with a hammer (lightly) and it started working properly. Has been fine for nearly a week now. Thanks for all the suggestions.
rayin Report post Posted September 14, 2019 Lyle, a farmers favorite tools are a hammer and roll of bailing wire.
elkhartjim Report post Posted September 14, 2019 Glad to hear, Lyle; more evidence its not an inherent problem like a so-called tech told another Newmar owner.
