deb4branson Report post Posted June 25, 2020 I’d like to tow my ‘98Jeep Cherokee behind my RV. I have a Thor Chateau 31Y. The hitch it rated for 8,000 pounds. Does anyone have experience with towing using a tow dolly? Will this harm my old Jeep’s transmission? The Jeep has automatic transition. Thanks, Chris
jleamont Report post Posted June 25, 2020 deb4branson, Welcome to the FMCA Forums! The link below is for dinghy towing guides, you'll have to scroll pretty far down to get into the 90's for 1998 but its in there. Hope this helps. https://www.motorhome.com/download-dinghy-guides/
hermanmullins Report post Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) Deb, Is your Jeep Cherokee 4 wheel drive or front wheel drive? As Joe said check the dinghy towing chart. If it does not go that far back check with your nearest Jeep Dealer's Service manager not a salesman. Herman Edited June 25, 2020 by hermanmullins
dons2346 Report post Posted June 25, 2020 Jeeps are not towable on a dolly unless you remove the rear driveshaft. Consult the owners manual and look for a section on "recreational towing"
manholt Report post Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) Remco may have a solution, like a built in disconnect. We have on on a 2014 Expedition and tow 4 wheels down. I had one installed on a one ton 1996, Ford Centurion Custom and towed it 4 down! Edited June 25, 2020 by manholt
