johntelling Report post Posted December 23, 2020 I understand that it is not a god idea to idle a diesel rather than driving it, but, for the next while, I will be unable to move my Excursion, 350 Cat. Is it less worse to leave it sit or to run the engine once a month or so?
rossboyer Report post Posted December 23, 2020 If you cannot move it for at least 25 miles, let it sit. The generator is a different issue. You do need to run it once a month at about 1/2 load to drive out any moisture.
hermanmullins Report post Posted December 23, 2020 Ditto, I try to run the Generator with one of my Heat Pumps on for 30 to 45 minutes once a month. Herman
jleamont Report post Posted December 23, 2020 As mentioned, don’t start it unless you can physically drive it for at least 25 miles. You’ll do more harm than good.
manholt Report post Posted December 24, 2020 Ditto X4. If you have Aqua Hot, Oasis or Wabasco heating, run it for about 10 minutes on the diesel side! I guess I should ask, why can't you move it? Merry Christmas! 🎅
