squiredude Report post Posted February 24, 2022 I have a good set of 4 house batteries all AGM 6volt style. I have been offered a set of good 6Volt Wet cell batteries and I am not sure if my charger can handle mixing batteries.. Can I mix them on the same bank? hermanmullins Report post Posted February 24, 2022 I would keep the AMGs since you are already set up for them and you said "I have a good set of 4 house batteries all AGM 6volt style" JMO. Herman
squiredude Report post Posted February 25, 2022 (edited) HI Herman, Thanks for the reply, I do intend to keep the AGM's but I want to see if I can ADD 4 or 6 Wet cell 6volt batteries to the current bank... total of 4x AGM & 4x Wet Cell Thanks Phillip Edited February 25, 2022 by squiredude
hermanmullins Report post Posted February 25, 2022 I don't think that would be advisable. They have different charging requirements and your inverter won't know the difference. Herman
five Report post Posted February 25, 2022 If you opt to do that, I'm with Herman. Normally I would not mix types or ages of batteries. Why would you want four more batteries? Last summer I went from eight 6 volts to two 12 volt....all AGM deep cycle. We don't dry camp and are all electric, work great.
squiredude Report post Posted February 25, 2022 Thanks to all for your responses. I was of the same thought that you cannot mix dissimilar types of batteries. just wanted others confirmation. f
