ronandsue74 Report post Posted March 8, 2012 I have a 2005 Country Coach Inspire 330 with a 400 Cat engine and an Allison transmission, Model HD3000HH, S/N 6510488801 My problem is I can't get the transmission to go into Economy Mode. When I push the mode button an amber light illuminates next to the mode button but the special function (ECONOMY) does not appear on the MODE ID label adjacent to the MODE button. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? RJ 2005 Inspire F423965
wolfe10 Report post Posted March 8, 2012 RJ, If the light illuminates when you press the mode button, you ARE in economy mode. Easy way to prove it: With engine warmed up and in power mode (mode button not pushed), accelerate at WOT (wide open throttle) from a stop sign to 40 or 50 MPH where it is safe. Note max RPM in each gear before the upshift. At the next stop sign, do the same, but after pushing the MODE button to select economy mode. Max RPM before the upshift will be lower in Economy Mode. Let us know what you find. Brett
hermanmullins Report post Posted March 8, 2012 Sound to me like the burn out at the drag strip. But I understand your reason.
wolfe10 Report post Posted March 8, 2012 Herman, Now, wait-- you live in Texas. You have to accelerate from a stop sign to more than 40-50 MPH or you would never get out of Texas. Brett
dickandlois Report post Posted March 9, 2012 Regarding Brett's post. Copy of mode SW operation from Allison Trans Manual. Mode button Allison Automatics offer primary and secondary shift schedule modes to enhance performance or fuel economy. The vehicle always defaults to the primary mode (light off). You can switch to the secondary mode (light on) by pushing the mode button R.M.
