greymountain Report post Posted May 24, 2012 I am considering installing either window awnings or having the windows tinted to reduce interior heat. Which is the best way to go? GM
dalltop Report post Posted May 24, 2012 I am surprised your windows do not have some tint already. I like having the awnings for when you are stopped. Having the awnings gives you some privacy especially when parked in a tight campground. Rainy days you can have your windows open. It helps with heat in the summer and you have the option not open them on cool days. On the down side they do not help while moving down the road. I would install both options if you can. greymountain Report post Posted May 24, 2012 Agree. One of the main reasons for tints vs awnings is while driving down the road. I may do both - tint all the windows and install awnings over the large living room spaces - we have two slides in the front area and a lot of glass. five Report post Posted May 25, 2012 We have a set of two windows that do not have exterior space for the awning arms, so I had them tinted and got a Magna Shade for the outside when stopped. If you have them tinted, if you have double paned windows, BE SURE they use the tint for designed for dual paned windows...or they will crack. Standard auto tint will not work. RVerOnTheMove Report post Posted May 25, 2012 Awnings will keep the interior of your coach much cooler than any tinting since they keep all of the glass and surrounding mounting and siding cool.
