Bodyboard Report post Posted September 6, 2012 I just purchased a very clean 1978 Apollo with 28000 miles on it. There are switches on the shifting lever housing that are stock. It also shows the same switches in the book that came with it. One is a momentary and the other is an on-off toggle. Im thinking with the location at the transmission shifter it is an overdrive system. Anyone know if they had overdrive on the Dodge chassis? Thank-you, Bill

bsinmich Report post Posted September 12, 2012 It could also be a 2 speed rear axle.. Without any additional info it is only a guess.
dickandlois Report post Posted September 14, 2012 The switch could be OEM used to lock or unlock the torque convertor. Also could be aftermarket add on. Real hard to know with out some additional information on the drive train and engine. Rich.
desertdeals69 Report post Posted September 14, 2012 Your chassis is probably a Dodge M600 with a Dodge 440-3 engine and a 727 torqueflite transmission. I have worked on dozens of them back in the 70s and 80s. We also installed the Gear Vendors over/under gearbox which mounts in the back of the transmission. Its been too long ago to remember what the switches were.
