ramblinboy Report post Posted September 9, 2012 My 2008 Workhorse rig has 2007 tires on it. At the 30K mileage mark the manual says to rotate the tires and clean and repack front wheel bearings. Should I have the tires rotated at the same time I have the bearings done? Will rotation make a difference in these 5 year old tires?
wolfe10 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 If there is no uneven wear, no reason to rotate motorhome tires. If uneven wear (which is more common on front than rear tires), THEN do rotate them. Rotate both front tires to ONE side in back-- the side with the tires in better condition. This is usually the drivers side rear, as they hit fewer curbs, potholes, etc. Move the two rear tires from that side to the front. Direction of rotation does not matter unless they are directional tires (very rare in an RV application and will be clearly marked on the sidewall).
hermanmullins Report post Posted September 9, 2012 Do you have Aluminum Wheels? If so you can't rotate them to the same side. As Brett said if the tires a worn even don't rotate just pack the bearings. Herman
ramblinboy Report post Posted September 11, 2012 I do have aluminum wheels so they must stay on the same side of the rig and not cross to the drivers side?
desertdeals69 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 I also have aluminum wheels so if I need to move tires around I remount the tires in the new location. I always keep the tire rotation in the same direction, I have heard thats not necessary be I do it anyway.
