Aqua-Hot 450DE

Recommended Posts

Heater had run below diesel level, had been working fine until then. Now it will run fine then mostly in the night it will not light it may be OK for a day or two then not start .

Does not seem to have air in the line when it starts it runs fine for a period of time until it gets below 32.

Could the fuel be starting to gel and not be able to spray through nozzle?

Where do I start checking?

Thanks

Bob

Bob, If it hasn't been said before, Welcome to the Forum.

1) Have you had your unit serviced in the past year?

It is a good idea to have it serviced every couple of years if not every year.

2) Have you checked your coolant level?

You can check the level at the overflow tank, but its best (when the unit is cool) to check it at the radiator cap on top of the unit.

3) Have you checked the fuel filter? When was the last time it was changed?

Your fuel filter can do strange things. It may let fuel flow just fine today but not when you park and everything settles it may clog up and not allow enough fuel to pass. You may have water in the filter.

All these can lead to keeping your unit from working properly.

Hope this helps,

Herman

Concerning your fuel gelling question:

If you filled with diesel in a cold area during the winter, an anti-gel was already in the fuel. If you filled in a warm area anytime or cold area during non-freezing temperatures, it would be a good idea to add an anti-gel. PS brand seems to be universally carried by Walmart, though any anti-gel additive will work.

By "run below diesel level" do you mean it tried to run but the fuel in the tank was too low? If so, the AH fuel system may have lost it's prime. The AH manual will tell you how to reprime and get it running again.
