Bluebirds Report post Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Okay, we have a 2013 WBG Journey, and 2014 Jeep GC. Looking at SMI air force one supplemental Brake system. A service advisor at local Camping World said good system, but ' may ' void MH and / or toad mfr. Warranty. ????SO, my question is: those who have installed these air vacuum brake systems on your MH and Toads:a) did you worry about warranty void if you installed in brand new MH &/or new toad?b ) or, do you know first hand if it voided your warranty on either MH, or Toad vehicle?c) or, did you just 'wing it' and assume repair cost of what would otherwise be "mfr warranty part" if later discovered it did void warranty? Thanks for any perspectives from those using one :-) Edited February 13, 2014 by wolfe10
huffypuff Report post Posted February 13, 2014 Any modification can void warranty if the modification is the cause of the breakdown. Otherwise it is alright to modified to make towing safe. There are other systems out there that uses the coach air pressure and the people that have then love them. Very painless to hook up and disconnect not like a portable system which takes more time and effort. Even with the portable system you have to modified the toad and possible the coach. hermanmullins Report post Posted February 13, 2014 Bluebird, those are questions to ask the manufacturer. Most MH come pre-wired for trailer brakes as do a lot of trucks. Many diesel MH come plumbed for air. So a visit with you MH Manufacturer and the Toads Mfg. would or should answer your question. Herman
wolfe10 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 Ray is correct. So is Herman, with my observation that very few of those at vehicle "help lines" are conversant with the details of the Magnuson-Moss Warrant Act.
