jp1walsh Report post Posted February 22, 2014 We are considering getting a car (toad) to tow behind our Forest River Forester 24ft. We are wondering what make and model automatic can be towed 4 down. I understand that it is not an issue for manual transmissions. Would like some ideas of what some of you are using. Any advice welcome.....

wolfe10 Report post Posted February 22, 2014 Lots of choices out there. Start here-- a list by year for the last 10+ years of those vehicles that are towable 4 wheels down: http://www.fmca.com/motorhome/towing/204-towing-guides-towing-four-wheels-down Not sure the choices WE make are relevant to YOUR needs. elkhartjim Report post Posted February 22, 2014 Personally, I would start by identifying the weight/tow limits of your 24' Forest River. I tow a Jeep Wrangler that weighs in excess of 4000# and I'm not sure you can safely tow and stop that much weight. Regardless, whatever you decide to tow, make sure you have some sort of braking system on the toad.
bobbyks Report post Posted February 23, 2014 I am very satisfied with 4 dr Jeep wrangler , tow four down behind a 45' Mandalay , lots of room for my 6' 3 " frame, its ideal for offroad activity. My friend has a 32' class c and 4 dr Jeep wrangler, he has no towing problems. We travel from Louisiana to Canada and North Carolina. I have left him in a quick braking situation and in the middle of intersection several times, he has handled those quick stops with no proble.
