13111lakeshore Report post Posted July 24, 2014 When towing our 2010 Equinox, the wheels no longer turn left or right when being towed. If sitting in the drivers seat, the wheels will turn when you turn the steering wheel. We've been towing the car since 2010, and this is a new issue. The Chevy dealership was unable to find any problems with electronics or any steering problems. Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dickandlois Report post Posted July 24, 2014 The power steering system could be masking a ball joint or drag link issue. The OEM units are no longer supplied with grease fittings and they could be drying out. When they dry out, things do not move as freely. How many miles have you towed the car? wigginsjsr Report post Posted July 25, 2014 I had a similar problem with my Saturn Vue, which is the Saturn version of the Equinox. It turned out to be the "steering rack". If there are problems with the power steering, it can contaminate the fluid in the rack making it hard to turn and return to the forward position. Do you notice that the steering does not return to center after making a turn a quick as normal? If so, that could be your problem. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
