mikerc Report post Posted April 17, 2015 I have a 2004 American Eagle. The plastic lens is fogged over or oxidized. Almost impossible to read them. Is there any place that can repair or replace?
dickandlois Report post Posted April 17, 2015 mikerc, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! You might try calling Allied Recreation Groups parts Department at 800-591-0628 and see if they can supply a new one or offer a possible repair. Web link is. https://rvparts.argrv.com The speedometer is supplied by the chassis manufacture and I think your coach is built on a Freightliner Custom Chassis. 1-800-385-4357 Rich. hermanmullins Report post Posted April 17, 2015 mikerc, Can you tell if it is oxidized on the outside or inside? If it is on the outside you might try Macguires Lens cleaner. It can be found in most auto parts houses. Be careful applying too much pressure when rubbing. Has it been or is the coach park where the dash is exposed to direct sunlight? In most cases it takes direct UV rays to cause plastic to discolor. (Have you cleaned your glasses lately? ) Herman

mikerc Report post Posted April 17, 2015 The problem is on the inside. I tried the Macguires lens and it did nothing. I'm not sure how or where it was stored. We both seem to be thinking the same. It is so bad I have taken small stickers (dots) and placed then where numbers are. Also it's all the gauges.
mikerc Report post Posted April 17, 2015 Thanks, I will give them a call. Has been frustrating, every place I call can't help me. All of the gauges work I just can't see them.
huffypuff Report post Posted April 17, 2015 Lots of manufactures use VDO gauges. You can try their link below: http://www.vdo-gauges.com/instruments/gauge-kits.html
dickandlois Report post Posted April 17, 2015 Ray, Thanks for the information-Rich. I checked the link and it looks like most of there gauges are for Ford or GM units. Did not see any listing for Freightliner, Spartan or other chassis listed? Rich.
huffypuff Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Rich, there are so many different gauge that it's best to get the number off the gauges itself. They have single as well as multi-gauges. When I needed a gauge for my coach, that is what Monaco (um) Navistar at the time said to do. This link should narrow it some: http://www.usa.vdo.com/generator/www/us/en/vdo/main/products_solutions/special_oem_solutions/platform_products/instrumentation/instrumentation.html
dickandlois Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Thanks again Ray for the updated information. That is the kind of instrument cluster that is in many of the coaches. Rich.
wildebill308 Report post Posted April 23, 2015 Can you find a part number on the back of the cluster? Or call Freightliner (if it is Freightliner) with your VIN number and see if they can help. Bill
cmarq Report post Posted April 23, 2015 Is there a possibility the company that repairs Workhorse instrument panels would be able to help. I can't find the name but I'm sure others can provide it.
huffypuff Report post Posted April 23, 2015 cmarq, Dorman remanufacturers instruments clusters for GM products by vin and mileages. Try plugging in your vin at this link. I had to replace a few on larger GMC pickups as instrument cluster is common problem. They do have listing for Workhorse and Freightliner. http://www.dormanproducts.com/Pages/New_To_Aftermarket/NTA_Page.aspx
