wolfe10 Report post Posted July 8, 2015 johncary, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. Wow-- never heard of that. How long have you had the coach? Exactly where is the crack? Any idea what caused it?
kaypsmith Report post Posted July 8, 2015 Only time that I have seen a frame crack was when someone had welded something onto the frame, or had drilled the frame. Overloading, or wreck normally will only bend the frame.
hermanmullins Report post Posted July 8, 2015 John, The only safe way to solve a cracked frame is to reinforce the area around the crack. I would scab a plate over the area and bolt the plate on both sides of the crack. DO NOT Weld on a chassis. Every weld will create a heat effected area and the weld material will be stronger then the base metal. Look at any large truck frame and you will see labels every where stating "Do Not Weld".
