kaypsmith Report post Posted July 8, 2015 Only time that I have seen a frame crack was when someone had welded something onto the frame, or had drilled the frame. Overloading, or wreck normally will only bend the frame. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
hermanmullins Report post Posted July 8, 2015 John, The only safe way to solve a cracked frame is to reinforce the area around the crack. I would scab a plate over the area and bolt the plate on both sides of the crack. DO NOT Weld on a chassis. Every weld will create a heat effected area and the weld material will be stronger then the base metal. Look at any large truck frame and you will see labels every where stating "Do Not Weld". johncary Report post Posted July 20, 2015 Does anyone know what Monaco did for repair of cracked frame that was on recall number 04v038000 or Monaco recall ro 3024 on march 1 2004?? Did they weld it?
