mapleskoff Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Looking for suggestions for campgrounds near Gulf coast south of Pensacola. Prefer full hook up, w/pets allowed. TIA. Doc Mike
britcon Report post Posted September 2, 2015 We spent 2 weeks at Carrabelle beach in February - quaint little fishing town. RV Resort is good quality, right across 2 lane hwy from beach. Laid back, good seafood. Close to ST. Johns Island for touristy stuff.
kaypsmith Report post Posted September 3, 2015 We stayed at Coastline RV Resort at Eastpoint Fl. In late May, it is 20 miles west of Carrabelle, also just across hgy, 98 from the coast. You can see St. George Island from the park. Just like britcon described, laid back, excellent seafood, especially if you go west across Apalachicola bay to Apalachicola. This area is called by the natives of the area as the forgotten coast. If you like fishing, it is also excellent. Our favorite spot is St. George state park, but it almost requires 4 to 6 months reservations if staying more than a 1 or 2 night stay. Forgot to mention the state park does not have full hookup, water and electric with a very convenient dump station. These areas mentioned are actually east of Pensacola, which are on the way if you will be going further south in Florida. Only water south of Pensacola, LOL. mrsrodeo Report post Posted September 3, 2015 Consider Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. One of the few with full hookups! It's a nice park within walking distance of awesome beaches. We have also stayed at Carabelle Beach RV park, and it too is a very nice place. https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Topsail-Hill Although you prefer full hookups, The campground at Fort Pickens is a great campground as well, has 50 amp service but no sewer hookup. Across the bay from the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Check out the Blue Angels practice for free and also the Naval Air Museum.
mapleskoff Report post Posted September 4, 2015 Thanks for the great info. We've reserved two weeks at Topsail and one at Grafton in January, and then we'll stay in a commercial camp ground for February. Trying to make this winter more pleasant than snow and cold in WI. opsmdev Report post Posted February 13, 2016 Can't say enough about Eagles Landing in Holt Florida. 25 miles north of Ft. Walton Beach. Huge, long pull through sites, clean, neat, safe and with an absolute wonderful couple running it. http://www.eagleslandingrvpark.com/
