TipSanders Report post Posted September 1, 2016 My 2005 Monaco Diplomat's Carefree awning is stuck in the stowed position making it difficult to get to the motor assembly to replace the motor. Any advice on opening the awning manually? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
john_harris Report post Posted September 1, 2016 Is the motor the issue or is the keyway stripped? That seems to be a chronic problem with the Eclipse model. You may be able to manually unroll canopy to at least get to the 3 screws that hold the tube to the motor assembly mounted in the arm. I thought issue was with motor but it worked fine. The shaft however rotated freely in the cap causing the awning to stay stationary. You may have a different model.
TipSanders Report post Posted September 2, 2016 There is 12VDC to the motor but it's unresponsive. I have original literature that came with the Coach when we bought it in 2012. We're the second owners. I didn't see anything about how to do a manual unroll, no way to get to the screws without it being away from the stowed position. five Report post Posted September 2, 2016 In a previous DP we had a problem with the motor running, but the awning not moving. It was a design problem and Carefree replaced the bad parts under warranty. Our had a four year warranty...I think they've reduced that now.
