You can lubricate the seals and they should work fine in cold weather. I have used my slides in 10 degree weather and although the slide moves a little slower, it still works.

I have never had the opportunity to use my Emergency Roadside Service yet. This thread discusses whether to carry a spare tire (no rim). So if you need road service, does this mean if you have a spare tire, they will remove your flat, dismount the blown tire, mount your spare tire onto that rim and install it on the coach? Does road service typically have the equipment to do that in the field, or do they take your blown tire and spare tire back to the shop to mount it? I am asking because I have a spare tire mounted on a rim. My logic was to cut down on the amount of time it would take to remove the blown tire and replace it in the field.

Are the fuses you checked under the hood or under the dash? You may have more than one fuse box.

Yes my mistake. depending on the age of your coach, you may have a W20 chassis. my 2003 is a W20 and I have 19.5 wheels

SCS Coach Step works intermittently
vtbigdog replied to smalexander's topic in Systems and Appliances
Sounds like the fuse is OK if the light is working intermittently. Is the step making any clicking noises? Have you lubricated the step according to the manual with the proper lubricant? Do you have a switch in the coach that turns off the action of the step? If it is not making any noises, I would check this switch. I would also check the magnetic switch in the door jamb. Maybe the magnet is no longer alighted or fell out. Another test....close the door and turn on the ignition switch on your coach. Then open the door to see if the step works. When the ignition switch is on, the wall switch operation is bypassed. If the step still does not work, you can rule out the wall switch and concentrate on the magnetic switch on the door jamb. Keep us posted. -
The refrigerator is not as efficient on electricity as it is on gas. Lowering the setting is the best answer, but also make sure your coach is level. Inefficiencies running on electricity are magnified if the coach is not level

The Fill-In driver is a preference that can be set by individual members. Go to the Members Tab and click on Member Directory and you will see the tabs as well as a "What's This Button" that will tell you about the other tabs.

If you still have the build sheet (usually stored in a closet wall or some other obscure place), you can usually go online and find the manuals at the vendor websites.

Thank you for clarifying.

According to my research there are three GFIs in your unit. One in the Galley, one in a storage bay and one in the bathroom. Did you find and check all three?

129 is the only satellite that carries HD, so in my opinion not having access to HD on my high definition television is not acceptable.

Wildbill, what year and model RV do you have and what type of chassis is it on? Here is some informaiton from the Trik-L-Start site that may be pertinent... "OPERATING INFORMATION — The yellow CHARGING light will illuminate whenever the starting battery is accepting a substantial charge. After the starting battery approaches a full state of charge, the green MAINTAINING light may illuminate instead, indicating that the battery is accepting only a small maintenance charge. (NOTE: The current required by some large or old batteries may never drop to the point where the green MAINTAINING light illuminates. Also, some house battery chargers rapidly switch their output voltage on and off, occasionally leading to a flickering yellow CHARGING light while the green MAINTAINING light is illuminated. Both of these traits are normal, and do not affect the charge process.) Shortly after shore power is disconnected or solar panel output ceases, all lights will go out, indicating that TRIK-L-START is in standby mode. The current drain on the house batteries in this mode is less than 0.005 amps (5 mA), and virtually zero on the starting battery(s)."

You have the W22. I will email you the workhorse Manual to decipher the rest of your VIN including the GVWR...which is the 4th digit.

The Western Arc satellites are not as accessible here in the Northeast because they are low on the horizon

Make sure the 222 receiver supports IR remotes. Some of the older units did not.

Wrinkles with w/d dryer combo
vtbigdog replied to james8316@sbcglobal.net's topic in Systems and Appliances
While the size of the washload may be adequate, the same load in the dryer cycle may be too much. If you look at the owners manual I believe it states you can wash 15 lbs. of clothes but it will only dry 11 lbs. Usually wrinkles are caused by the clothes just spinning as opposed to tumbling. I might suggest washing a smaller load and see if the reduction in quantity makes a difference in the drying. Also read the following post from their website. A lot of useful information here. Also note the section concerning cleaning the exhaust vent. http://www.splendide.com/solution_center.htm#no_dry_start -
Identify which model steps you have and then go to the following web site and download the installation/troubleshooting guides. http://www.kwikee.com/Adocuments.html

How long was the coach stored? what part of the country are you in? Concerning the chassis battery. The battery went dead because it was either not in tip-top shape (bad cell, not fully charged) or there is a drain on the battery. One item that will draw power from the battery is anything that is always on such as dash radio memory. Your coach should have a chassis disconnect switch. I would suggest charging the battery first and then settting this switch to OFF and then see if the battery goes dead. I am assuming this battery is maintenance-free and you cannot add fluid. Depending on your configuration, your chassis battery may not be charged when you are plugged into shore power or running your generator. That is why you need a Trik-L-Start device. Same scenario for the house batteries. Drains on voltage can come from smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, your inverter, and other things. You should also have a disconnect switch for the house batteries. Make sure your batteries are initially charged and are topped off with distilled water and you check it monthly. Also if your coach is stored indoors, a solar panel you have on the roof is not able to provide any charging, so even good batteries in tip-top shape will eventually go dead.

First of all go to the following URL and in the middle of the page you will see a reference to TrekTraks. Click on that and join, and you will learn more about your Trek than you can imagine. http://www.nwtfc.com As far as your mattress is concerned, if you get a mattress that is any thicker than what you have now, the bed will not be able to retract into the ceiling. I was concerned about comfort. I purchased a good foam mattress topper from Walmart and the bed is not habitable. My bed does not completely retract into the ceiling but I can live with that. There is a ton of feedback concerning the above as well as other options you may want to consider, on the site I mentioned. You will received feedback from many Trekkies!

The 6th letter in your VIN identifies your chassis. 6 = W22 chassis A = W24 chassis If yours is not a 6 or an A, please let me know what it is and I will let you know.

I would test your ground connector to make sure it is making proper contact. Even with a fully charged battery you should still see the green light. I had a similar problem and it was the ground.

Here is a post from another site... If your coach uses a Workhorse chassis that was manufactured after September 2003, it should already have front and rear anti-sway bars. These are rectangular in shape and are mounted steel to steel so they do not have bushings that will wear out, etc. The rear anti-sway bar is mounted behind the axle and the front anti-sway bar is located in front of the axle. These are about 2 1/2" square and are attached from leaf spring to leaf spring. What you need to start with is a rear track bar, which will dramatically reduce the tail-wagging particularly when towing. Rick 2003 Safari Trek 3011 8.1 Workhorse / Allison

I have Dish at home as well. I installed a Winegard Roadtrip Mini-Max stationary dome antenna for the RV from Camping World. I then took my Dish 211 receiver from my bedroom and placed it into the RV. I get full HD, and the satellite antenna works flawlessly. Please note that Dish now uses Eastern Arc satellites as opposed to the Western Arc satellites, so if you are in the Eastern US, your antenna will be aimed in the opposite direction. the Winegard satellite dishes can be configured for either. If you do not have an additional Dish box, you can call Dish and they will send you one and charge you the standard costs for the dish rental. As far as the National Network feeds, Dish Network does not offer an RV option. It is handled through a third party company...and you must be on the Western Arc satellites in order to subscribe. Depending on where you are, you may find that attaching your batwing to the back of the Dish Receiver will allow you to pick up most of the national networks. You just have to search for the channels in the Dish receiver when you move locations. Rick

Do you have any outlets in the basement? I would check any GFIs on those outlets as well.
