  1. In a lot of automobile gas tanks, there is an air pocket at the top of the tank. To eliminate the air pocket an old trick was to place an additional vent line from the top of the tank to the filler neck. This required drilling a hole in the tank and the filler neck and installing a small fuel line. So when the pump initially kicked off, you could then fill the rest of the tank slowly.
  2. What do you have for a coach? What weight is your receiver hitch rated for?

If you have steel wheels your torque setting it 475ft-lbs. Unless you have a huge torque wrench and possible a breaker bar, you will have to have them torqued by a truck mechanic. I have a wrench. I check mine twice per year and if I an having service that requires a wheel to be pulled I watch them torque the wheen and then I check them a week later.
  4. "I used to have that issue when I went direct to the forum URL but its been working fine if I go to http://www.fmca.com/index.php and click on the "Forum" tab. No issues at all since I started doing that." Changed mine several days ago...problem solved.
  5. In my coach you have to select the incoming amps...from 50 to 30 to 20 to 15. Could this be your case as well...meaning you have to select 50 amps in order to receive it? I would also check the breakers on your inverter. You may have one tripped.
  6. Assuming you have access to the ignitor, I would check to see if you can see or hear the spark . If it is sparking I would have the propane feed checked or adjusted. If you have the make and model or the furnace I would check the manufacturers site as they will have top-notch manuals for diagnosis.
  7. Additionally, if we knew what year, make and model you were inquiring about, you may get additional responses.
  8. In my opinion the chassis should not be flexing when headed down the road. It should be stiff. You might want to carefully check out the frame to see if there are any broken welds, particularly in the front end. I know the Workhorse chassis had a problem similar to yours that was caused by broken welds where the nose was mounted to the chassis. You may be encountering the same thing.
  9. Haven't experienced this situation but when my fuel gauge reads 1/4 you have better be pulling into a gas station. I have put 68 gallons into a 75 gallon tank due to inattentiveness when driving.
  10. I have the 8.1 with the Allison 5-speed transmission. I drive at 62 MPH with Cruise Control on the highway. I also have a ScanGauge. When I am climbing a steep hill I watch the Load on the ScanGauge (LOD). When I see the transmission is nearing the downshift zone I cancel the Cruise Control and press the accelerator only hard enough to prevent the downshift. I can go as low as 50 MPH in overdrive, so if I am nearing the top of the hill and am still above 50 MPH I will work the gas pedal to crest the hill in overdrive. If the hill is severe and a downshift is inevitable, I will wait until the speed drops to 55 MPH and then momentarily stab the gas pedal to force a downshift and then perform the same procedure in 4th gear and try to crest the hill in that gear. If speed drops below 50 MPH I turn on the flashers. I also monitor transmission temperature on the ScanGauge and can use that as a guide. I have never seen a transmission temperature over 178, which coincidentally was going downhill. My weight about 20,000 lbs and I have only had to downshift once into 3rd gear...at around 40 MPG to get up and over Fancy Gap on I-81 N You also did not mention going downhill...which is more of a concern than going uphill. When I know a steep downhill grade is coming up I will slow down to 55 MPH. I will then stab the gas pedal on crest of the slope to take the transmission out of overdrive to keep the initial speed down. I then gingerly use the brakes and only to apply short speed-killing bursts.
  11. The Silver Springs Wal-Mart does not allow overnights, but there is a Walmart on Route 200 about 5 miles west of the I-75 exit that does.
  12. This may sound dumb but I would check to make sure the seat is level from side to side. If the seat is low on the left side you may be able to loosen it and simply shim it with washers on the left side. That may get you closer to the center.
  13. I have a three point system on my coach. According to the owners manual you should lower the front jack until it firmly hits the ground, and then lower each rear jack until they hit the ground. You then use a combination of either of the jacks to level the coach. In your original post, I interpreted your statement of "When I level the chassis and not raising the front..." Are you saying you are not lowering the front jack at all? If that is the case, or if you are not lowering the front jack enough to take some of the weight off the front suspension, you are in effect using the support of the two front tires as the suspension supporting points in the front end and not the front jack. This may be why you cannot open the door properly. In worse cases, the windshield can crack. So make sure to lower your front jack to unload some weight off the suspension and see if that helps.
  14. I have a problem with my CB as well. Whenever I press the mike, my own voice booms over the FM radio speakers whether the radio is using FM or playing a CD. I have a Firestik...one of the short NGP antennas that look like a cell phone antenna. It is using RG58 wire which is "tuned" to length. I removed the PL-259 connector and installed new one. I checked all connections. My Cb is a Cobra 75WX-ST. I originally thought the problem was the antenna when the radio was tuned to FM, but when it does the same when playing a CD I think it is something else. Are there filters I can install on the radio to eliminate this? "KMA4583"
  15. There are NGP (Non-Ground Plane) antennas that are installed on some fiberglass coaches..as well as aluminum. You may already have one of these. If you do not know what brand of antenna you have, take a look at the cable. If it is RG58 it is most likely a NGP antenna. An NGP antenna uses this type of cable and is a specific length. If you cut the cable you will have problems. If its any other kind of cable see if the connector is grounded.
  16. How about a place on the eastern seaboard?
  17. For those people whose chassis batteries are not charged automatically, install a Trik-L-Start and then never worry about the chassis battery going dead again.
  18. Do you have a pressure reducer installed in the hose? If not you may be feeding too much pressure into the fill valve...which will be the least of your problems if you do not add one promptly.
  19. I also replaced my analog with a digital with a swing arm similar to yours. To ready it for travel, I take the styrofoam pieces that came in the box for the tv and place it on the top and bottom of the TV and then wrap two bungee cords around it. I then attach the outermost bungee cord to a hook mounted on the cabinet behind the TV so it does not swing out when going down the road.
  20. I spend the winter at the Ocala Sun RV Resort...it is NOT the one you see when coming down I-75. Get off at the exit for Highway 484 (The same exit as the Don Garlits Museum). Take a right at the exit and Ocala Sun is 1/4 mile on the right. Lightning fast Wifi, flat lots, awesome showers in the clubhouse, nice pool. this place has it all. Please tell Denise and Shawn that Rick from Vermont sent you.
  21. Dumb thought but that rotten egg smell could also be coming from the hot water tank. Turn on the hot water faucet and see if you smell it.
  22. Not all flat screens are HD but if yours is you should be able to directly hook up an antenna and get a channel assuming you are not in the middle of nowhere. If you cannot get a channel the TV is not HD. What is the brand, make and model of the TV and the "Channel3/Channel 4 box"
  23. Is your flat screen TV an HD Television? If not, the "channel3/channel4 box is a HDsignal to analog converter. Get a set of rabbit ears and hook it up to the coax connector on the TV until you get a signal. You will have to futz with the Video 1, Video 2 toggle. Once you get a picture try to hook up the coax to the regular connections. If you cannot get a signal, then your television is not HD. Now hook up the rabbit ears to the Channel 3/Channel 4 box and futz with it again. If you get a picture, disconnect the rabbit ears and hook up the coax from your antenna. If you now do not get a signal, make sure the antenna booster (if equipped is on).
  24. Hmmm. 4 fixtures going bad at the same time? I would more likely think there is a blown fuse that would account for all 4 going out at the same time.
  25. I would first check to make sure you have power to the light switches. Are there other fluorescent lights that do work? Do you have a DC switch near your door?
