  1. We stayed a couple years ago at Cloud Nine, top of a mountain, in a 40 '. Have a friend camps at Lake Catherine State Park and enjoys it. Go to http://rvparkreviews.com/, you can get a fell whats around Hot Springs.
  2. I have the same problem with Direct TV which I only have in my MH. I cancel for 6 months during my off season travel, would like the Dish where you pay as go but was told my Winegard Roadtrip Minimax would have to be reworked in order to receive with Dish's receivers. Anyone got a take on this?
  3. I would advise anyone thinking about Extended Waranty with ACC, google ACC Warranty Group, they are not BBB accredited. Also link and read Ripp off Reports.
  4. Wolfe, your right I thinking it would be better to run a 50A line and leave the 30A as it also provides lights for my cover when needed.
  5. From the 30 A breaker to the outlet is about 80 feet, I use a 16 inch 30 to 50 A reducer, I am thinking I have too much pull on the the 12 gauge wire. I am going to have my electrical buddy check all connections for tightness and possible change out wire to 10 or 8 g wire. Thanks all for input, this what makes FMCA a top notch organization.
  6. I am at home, ran the following checks with air on: Shore side 112 V, inside MH 108 V. Air off shore 118 V MH 118 V. Smart EMS load meter with air on reading 16 A, Magnum reading 0 A with 13.3 battery.Battery charger on. Wire feeding recepticle on shore side is AWG 12 Type CU 3CDR 600V. Should this wire handle the load requirement ?
  7. I turned the AC off. Voltage came back to 120 V, batteries indicating 13.3. Can I leave the charger and inverter on while hooked to shore power. The batteries are wet -6 V (4). I may need to check, when I noticed drop in VAC to 105 I was running the front AC, never noticed a drop when running the rear. For some reason the middle AC unit will only operate on Gen or 50A shore.
  8. I own a 2008 40-C Mandalay, 50-amp system, ME 2012 Magnum charger/inverter. About a month ago I changed out the four house and start batteries. I keep the coach plugged in to a 30-amp system at home when not traveling in order to run fridge and one AC due to hot humid weather in south Louisiana. I noticed today with the fridge running and the one AC running, the VAC had dropped to 105 to 108 on several outlets.I was pulling 22 amps with battery indicating 12.3, charger on and inverter off. My question is, what is the proper setup for the charger/inverter when connected to shore power? I have been told not turn the inverter on when connected to shore power. The 105/108 vac concerns me.
  9. We also stayed at Tom Sawyer, I don't know what the river stages are, they close at a high level stage due to the location between river and levee. I have a friend who stayed at Two Rivers in Nashville, next door to Camping World enjoyed stay.
  10. Just put my coach in the shop for oil change, shop found some damage to front tire , need to change both They are Michelin AZA3 16 Ply H rated 275 80 22.5. What is the procedure to get the FMCA discount plan, I live in the Baton Rouge, La area, do I call tire dealers, will my FMCA membership apply for discount.
  11. LeRoy, did you depress the brake pedal when attempting to shift from park to neutral? I have a Jeep Wrangler, the instructions are probably the same. I find the Dealers are not much help on infomation regarding towing and their tech department is no help at all, you get someone in India.
  12. I use a 4 pin connection wired into front of Jeep below bumper interconnected from MH to activate lights, brakes and turn signals .
  13. clancaster, I tow a 2008 Wrangler, I follow the procedures in manual ,I do not remove key, place it in ACC position to allow steering,I have a disconnect switch for battery as I have electronic equipment. I have never noticed the drive shaft as long as it free rolls I am ok, have towed over 12,000 miles on the 2008 and prior 2005 model 15,000 miles.
  14. We have driven the Trace several times in a 45' with Jeep toad, there is not much in the way of sites, this is what we have done, drove to Jackson , Ms on the Trace, exit at Madison, Ms and I-55 N stayed in Canton, Ms at Movietown RV Park app 17 miles from exit, the next morning re-entered Trace and drove to Tupelo, Ms a good day drive, several pull offs for site seeing and rest area about half way, this is a federal parkway and the speed limit is what is posted and no more. We have stayed at Campgrounds at Barnes Crossing in Tupelo, Ms and Trace State Park Pontotoc/Belden, Ms. This State Park is a very nice park. I suggest you Google Trace Park Pontotoc, Miss, they have a site map, Eagle Ridge is the newest section on the Lake . We stayed several days in the park, we are off road people and like to take side trips into the country side . Oxford, Ms home of Ole Miss and William Faulkner was one of our side trips. From Tupelo we re-entered the Trace and continued our trip into Tenn and the Cumberland Mts.
  15. Where will you enter the trace and where will you depart?
  16. My wife and I have camping for 14 years, started traveling in a pull trailer and moving up to coaches, we have never experienced problems with other campers, have stayed in state and federal parks, fly by night and up scale resorts, have found people we have met to be most enjoyable to be around. I try not to interfer when I see group camping. I speak, they can speak back or not, this does not bother me. There are times when I like to be left alone and I am sure there are those who wish the same. Happy camping to all, like the old saying---you win some, you lose some and some get rained out.
  17. Seidel, I would be lost without my side view cameras, the previous coach had only rear camera, the coach I now own has turn cameras, there have been several times when I wanted to change lanes and if it had not been for side cameras I would pulled into someone they are also good at viewing objects when making tight turns. I use my side mirrors but there has been times where two sets of eyes have paid off. I use my rear camera to observe my toad and tow bars. When I put on my turn signals the camera screen switches to full side view, there is a splitter switch box which gives me the option of full view of either or combination of a split screen for both. I do have rapid heart beat moments when I am in a turn mode and the turn signal does not return to normal and I do not see my toad. I have a friend who told me wanted to do what you want to do and was told by certified RV shop that the system would have to be singled wired from the back up camera to the monitor.
  18. Has anyone visited rvcampgroundsreview.com, the site is not the same and makes note that the site may be forsale.
  19. My Cummins 425 is in the shop now to replace the starter, I was lucky to be at home and had a local tech come to get started, he had to bang and beat on the starter to get it engaged and get to his shop.
  20. I found the problem with the coach no starting. Starter locked up probably due to low battery voltage. Should have changed batteries out, 5 years old.
  21. Rich, after I charged them to 13.5 volt I took another set of readings and they had dropped about 12.5, the batteries are orginal coach batteries 2008 model and are sealed, I failed to mention when I turn on the ignition key all controls on the panel are at norn, there is no indication of start contact, it seems I should get at least a small turn of the engine at about 12 volts of battery power, you think shutting off all power on the coach for a while may reset any relay which may have dropped out?
  22. I own a 2008 Thor Mandalay, 425 ISL Cummins with a Magnum ME 2012 inverter/charger. Never had a problem starting the motor until this AM. I pull it out of storage about every two weeks and run. This morning I went to start the motor it would turn over but not enough to fire off, indicator showed low battery. I put a strong charge on the battery to about 13.5 tried to start could not get a contact, it was like the batteries were disconnected, all cables were tight, no corrosion on post, I checked relays and fuses related to starting. It is like there is a lock out somewhere. The last time I pull the coach out one BR slide would only come in half way and stop and start the wall locking mechanism (like it was fully retracted) I finally was able to retract the slide to full and locked in place. I am not sure if this slide has not cleared safety switch and keeping the motor from engaging. I do not have drawings on the slide switches to see if I could override and have no idea where to look.
  23. Have been towing 2008 Jeep Wrangler over four years I installed a battery disconnect switch same effect as JMonroe no problems only have to reset clock and radio, have had Jeep at dealer for service they run computer checks and have never mentioned any problems, the dealer installed the last disconnect switch.
  24. I joined FMCA several years ago. I did not necessarily join because of discounts and benefits. The main reason was the resources available which members share in networking. We have been motorhoming for 15 years and everyday I learn from others as they share their knowledge and are willing to share. The information I have received is more than worth the membership dues.
  25. I add my 2 cents for Jeep Wrangler 4 WD 4 dr hardtop, on my second one, easy to hook up to a 45 ft Thor Mandalay, don't know it is being towed. This is a perfect fit as we travel from camp site to offroad areas.
