Like I said the RV is at a storage facility, so I am not able to put or leave a charge on it and won't be able to get proper readings for a while, will let you know how that goes. I just thought it was unusually short time for the batteries to run down when they were left fully charged and the battery switch was off.
Well hear is the best advise I can offer. Take the battery's some place you can do a proper charge. I would consider taking them someplace that can load test them after they are charged to eliminate the possibility of a bad cell or bad battery. Then recharge them and take them back to the RV and do the test for parasitic loads the way Brett recommended.
Then report your findings.

I was running the generator to charge the batteries on the trip to the storage facility and they had charged the batteries to the point they were on float charge when I parked the RV and turned off the batteries. I returned two days later and the batteries were dead.
They are 4-6 volt batteries, and the charging system is a inverter/ charger.
How long was the trip-- ie how long did you have them on charge? You still need to check for how much draw you have the way Brett mentioned. Not trying to jump on you.
When you have just been charging a battery and don't remove the float charge you will get a false reading on the actual charge state of the battery. You can let the battery's rest for 24 hours or apply a load of about 20 amps for about 4-5 minuets this will remove the float charge.

Brand new house batteries on my Holiday Rambler continue to run down even when I turn battery switch off. Batteries test fair with a specific gravity test, and they show no voltage with a multi-meter
Welcome to the forum. As Brett said give us some more details. How long does it take to go down?
What do you mean " Batteries test fair" They should show a full charge. Make sure they are getting a full charge.

Looking good.

Good job! It is amazing what the manufacturers let slide. I found a air leak along the top of the refrigerator. I probably wouldn't have found it but we were camping in some really cold windy weather and felt the draft.

We are moving ahead to go full time next Fall. We are in the market for a gently used Dutch (or Northern) Star.
But, wondering what the deal is on heating for the basement compartments.
Are any/some/all of them heated? Is it controllable?
Etc. Any other issues I need to know about concerning cold weather?
Also, what would you think about a 9 year old DS that has not been used in the last couple of years? Any deal breakers?
Or, should I just budget/negotiate several thousands for probable updates and repairs.
Thanks to all!
Dave & Becky
I don't thing you will have a problem. I would have someone qualified check it out before you buy it. Like others have said check the dates on the tires you can find the date on the sidewall it will start wit DOT the last 4 numbers will give you the week and last two numbers of the year 4110 is 41st week of 2010. I will bet you won't get any maintenance records so I would do a complete annual maintenance to start with to give you a base. That is what I did with my coach.
When I am on the road and if it is that cold I run the furnaces to heat the basement. When I am parked and staying in the coach the furnace protects the basement are. When in storage I have a ceramic cube heater that heats the whet area and two electric heaters to keep the interior from freezing. I don't winterize it so I keep heat in it. We don't have long cold spells hear in Texas. But tonight will be in the mid 20s I am glad I have the heat on.

Hi,
It is time to renew my Extended Service Contract or Warranty as it is sometimes known.
I previously had Good Sam's and in making a claim I had all sorts of issues and if it were not for a persistent mechanic it would have cost me thousands. (i.e. we were told to go to Walmart to get oil and filters!)
I have investigated a couple of other companies and would like to know if anyone has had any experience with Nationwide Auto Warranties of Litchfield Park , AZ?
I have an 97 Discovery 36RS with 65K on the clock. The basic policy is 48 months or 48K miles for $3800 (including tire and wheels). I will not go into the details but is read well on all areas to me.
Good or bad?
Thanks
Phill
Welcome to the forum Phill. I am of the group that self insures. You are talking $3800. and another posted $6000 dollars. I have seen and read of many people having problems getting claims paid. I would recommend Coach Net for towing and other road problems but I would put the money in the bank and if you have a problem you will probably be able to cover it.
I will say if you do all your maintenance you should be fine.
If you do by a policy you need to keep exacting maintenance records and have them with you at all times.

We are going to buy a cover for our 36ft Horizon DP and wondered if anyone has had good/bad experiences that they can share?
We are considering (so far) the Adco with Tyvek and the Polypro lll.
Looks like the Adco is about $330 and the Polypro about $380.
Would definitely consider others brands that have shown good durability.
Thanks!
Welcome to the forum. I don't have a good answer for you as I helped a friend put his on and decided I didn't want to have to do that.
I will caution you to be sure that it doesn't flop and chafe your coach when the wind blows as it will damage the paint.

My kitchen faucet was working OK but didn't like it. Replaced it with a faucet that is taller and the head pulls out like a sprayer.
This makes a much handier setup.
Also replaced the filtered water faucet as well.

Below about 45 the heat pumps won't provide much heat so you will be on propane. I don't know about your coach but mine will switch to propane automatically if the temperature gets down where I am not getting enough heat. I have a small cube heater in the wet bay to protect the pipes.

Rich types faster than I do. It directs any over pressure venting out from under your coach.

Welcome to the forum. Let us know what the shop has to say. Lets hope it is a minor problem.

Welcome to the forum.
Have you checked out the FMCA Michelin discount plan?
I would recommend you talk to a qualified Michelin dealer. Actually I would talk to several to kind of get a consensus.

I found a used Brake Buddy on Craigslist and it workes fine. Yes you have to remove it to drive but it isn't that big of a deal.

I think the OP should be sure his CAC and radiator are clean. I also think if he gears down on climbs and keeps his rpm over 2000-2500 he won't have a overheating problem. Save the money you are thinking about spending on re inventing the wheel and spend it on fuel.

Welcome to the forum. The first thing I would recommend is to get your transmission serial number (it is on the drivers side of the transmission) and go to
http://www.allisontransmission.com/my-allison/customer
You can find out the part number for your filters.
You haven’t filled out where you are so I can only say call around to the local truck supply. I got my fluid and filters from Inland Truck supply in Fort Worth.
I would recommend changing to Transynd fluid.
Just a thought you might be able to order the filters from Amazon.com

I generally travel with full water tanks and have never had a problem. You never know when you might need the water.

Lost the turn signal lens and looking for companies that sell replacements. Anybody have any ideas.
The coach is a 1999 38 diesel pusher.
Welcome to the forum. You say lens as in singular.
Get the numbers off the other one and do a Google search and see who made it.
You will get better responses if you put the basic info in your signature.

Yes this is your lucky day. Welcome to the forum. To get better answers please list the chassis manufacture and any other information you have. Look at some of the signatures for an example.
You need to check the age of your tires. 7-8 year old is about as old as you should run.
Look forward to your questions.

In the mean time you might try watching some of the videos on You Tube. You can pick up some tips.

I knew a guy who went and "test drove" a bunch of coaches to get a feel for what he could expect.

Bud2chill, welcome to the forum. Lots of good advice so far. I cleaned the shafts and sprayed them with silicone dry spray. Then I ran them about 6 times. I think the levelers need to be used/ exercised just like other systems on your coach. Most problems come from lack of use.

If I had a new coach with 8400 miles on it and all the maintenance done I would get coach net to cover their problems or any other thing that might cause a breakdown(dead battery ect) and hit the road. You can put the money for a insurance warranty in the bank but doubt you will have any problems.
