jleamont is right The Ford V10 is made with very tight tolerances and is made to run on the lower viscosity oil.
I would add to the list Mobil 1 0-20 oil.

Well the problem is it happened on the road. I was on my way back from Pharr Texas where the temps were in the 80s.I got as far north as Austin on US- 281 and the temperature dropped to 23 and it started sleeting. I thought it should be warm enough with the frig on. US 281. We spent two days at Miller Creek RV park right where US-290 runs into 281. Nice friendly place to be snowed/iced in. Gary if you look at the picture there is aluminum tape and a wire on the line from the valve to the icemaker. I have had people tell me there should be foil and heat wire on the valve. That apparently disappeared before I came on the seen. I am understanding this is on when the fridge is on or is it thermostatically controlled?
Herman, I hadn't planed on traveling into cold weather but it came to meet me.

Has anyone figured out a way to keep the solenoid water valve to the ice maker from freezing? It is in the compartment with the refrigerator and not much protection.
I found the solenoid water valve to the ice maker leaking. Must have frozen during the last cold spell on the trip back to Fort Worth from Pharr Texas. The weather went from 82 in Pharr to 23 west of Austin on 281 where we decided to get off the road as it was sleeting. I checked around the usual local RV places and they all wanted about $50.00 plus tax. Went on Amazon and got one for $23.00 shipped.
Not a hard job about 15 minutes after I got the part.
The part that took longer than changing the valve was cleaning up the rats nest of wires in this area. I just string tied the worst of it, making sure no wires were rubbing on sharp edges. Only found 4 places where the wires were run over sharp edges, 2 places the water line was rubbing on sharp metal. I still have to find a couple of small artist brushes to paint the drip tray and rest of bay.

Welcome to the forum Lucky. A simple search should turn up more threads on mileage than you can read. This is one of the most popular subjects on the web and around the campfire. The BIG problem is there is no apples to apples comparison. Every coach is different. There are so many variables you could have two coaches that are same year same make everything but they will get different mileage. The reason is every one drives differently. I don't think you will get the same mileage if the same driver drove the two coaches on a test track.
I have a 2003 Cummins with the Allison M3000 transmission. I have changed the Muffler to a Banks muffler and added the banks Economind diesel tuner and IQ. I run in the economy mode, number 2, most of the time. Last summer towing the CR-V on a 10,000 mile trip out west I averaged 9.3 overall. I might have done better but drove 55 the whole time (30+ days) I was in California (towing speed limit) just to see if it would improve mileage, it didn’t lost 1.5mpg. My rig doesn’t shift into 6th till 65 mph so at 55 in 5th I was running 1650rpm. When in 6th I am running 1650 at 65.

Why are you going through the mountains on secondary roads? I would go from Phoenix to Flagstaff on I-17. If you go that way you can stop in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Yes there are some grades on I-17 but it is a good road I drove it this last summer.

Let us know what you find out. I don't know how to check it but it might be the temperature sensor.
When you call Newmar they should be able to tell you the make, have your coach serial number handy.

Is it trying to light the second time? As mentioned I would clean all the contacts, the board and ground. You might look at the manufacture web site for further trouble shooting ideas.

Little green men from space flew along side of you and changed your tire pressure. You didn't change your air pressure and the dealership said they didn't so that is the only answer. Set your pressure like Brett advised and tell us if stays in the proper range.
And watch out for aliens putting air in your tires after this.

Well I learned something new. there is a Seal Beach Oregon to I forgot being by Seal beach CA this summer. I was going to tell you to take 90 east after all it is the Mass turnpike. Seriously that route looks good. You won't get on 90 till Cleveland Ohio. Is this a rush trip? I hope not there is a lot to see on that route.

For $2.24 more a gallon you can have the extra protection of a synthetic oil.

Sams Club and BJs beat this.
Their current 6 gallon case runs about $12.33 per gallon for six gallons.
If they have it in stock. I have never seen T6 in the local stores.

I used that rebate a few of months ago. Send in the info on 9 gallons of oil and got back $5.00 and that took over 12 weeks to get. So the limit appears to be one gallon. I sent a complaint email and got no response.
I sent in 6 coupons from the 6 gallons of oil so we will see I also made copies so if they don't play nice I have back ups. I looked at the instructions and it said $5.00 per gal. We shall see.

Just a heads up for those who are getting ready to change your oil. I was at Walmart today and noticed that Shell Rotella T6 and T5 have a $5.00 rebate.
I am getting ready to do my annual oil change so I bought 7 gal of T6 It is $19.57 before the rebate so your finished price after the rebate is $14.57.
The rebate has to be in by May 31, 2015.

Just a plug for a rally we are hosting. Now that we are having a break from the bad weather it might be time to plan a little outing. We will be just West of Fort Worth Texas. There are several interesting things planed as part of the rally like a VIP tour of AT&T Stadium where the Dallas Cowboys play. And many other fun things to do.
If you want to come a couple of days early you can go to The Fort Worth Main Street Art Show is April 9-12, 2015 in downtown Fort Worth and it is the largest juried Art Show in the Southwest and it is FREE!
Or if you like baseball we can help you get discounted tickets. Call for info. The Rangers will be playing the Astros on the 11th and 12th.
This rally will be hosted by the Roughnecks an FMCA affiliated club but you don’t need to be a member to come have some spring fun.

Did you know words can hurt you? What you say on social media can do you harm? Here is a case where someone made a Rant on face Book about his job and the people he worked with. The only problem was the company was in the UAE. When he returned to the UAE he was arrested and is facing five years in jail for the remarks he made. Keep in mind he made the remarks while on a trip back to the US.

I am in the more is better camp. You will smile the first time you are loading the coach when it is hot and you can run both air conditioners to keep it cool.
The box posted above looks good the extra 15-20 amp outlet can come in handy.

Good to hear. Safe travel our paths probably won't cross this year unless you plan on being at the 6 start rally in Conrow.

Brett, the Continental HSL2 tires are Continental's low rolling resistance fuel saving tire. What is your opinion? Do you have them all around?

Look by the drivers seat on the wall or look in all the cabinets. I have no idea why but the RV makers find the most obscure places to post this vital information. I will bet you have a 5000 lb. or less toeing capacity.
Congrats on your new coach.

I was lucky and found a direct replacement by Googling the part number. My microwave / convection oven hangs under the cabinet. I haven't heard of a different model for shelf or mounting in a cabinet. There was room around my microwave / convection oven for air flow. It gets pretty hot when using it as a convection oven but never had a problem. The only thing to be cautious of is to have the exhaust fans set up correctly when you install it. The install paperwork will walk you through that step.

Welcome to the forum.
There should be no more load with the new unit than there was with the old one.
I have done it on my Bounder it wasn't that big of a job. I think it cost about $ 435.00. Hear is a copy of a thread I posted before. I found the original install sheet in my paperwork and it was helpful to see how it was installed.
I had the same problem I couldn’t get anyone to work on it and the only shop that would stated it would cost “at least $350.00 to get a 10 year old unit fixed.
You may be as lucky as I was and find a direct replacement. When you take the old one out measure it so you can check and see if the new one will fit. I bought mine from Home Depo and it was cheaper than buying it in the store and free delivery.
ON taking the trim off the top My RV had a trim piece that just snapped in place. I just started prying on it gently and it came off to expose the 2 screws in the top. I did have a little trouble, as when I had the screws out the unit wouldn’t rotate down like the original install instructions showed. I had to get an inspection mirror and look behind the unit. They had run large beads of Silicone adhesive down the back and along the bottom ledge it hooks into. I think this was done to reduce vibration. I placed a couple of pads (like seat cushion) on the range cover to protect it in case the unit came down to hard. I am glad I did. When I broke the silicone loose it did come down as advertised. I don’t think you need to take the bottom cover off to remove it but your unit may be different.
You should look at and read the instructions before you start. I know I know but you might save a little time and effort. I got lucky as I found the original install instructions in my package of paperwork that came with my RV. That helped to understand how to remove the old one.
Like I said read your install instructions for the type of install you will be doing. They had different instructions for/ depending on which way it was vented. I had to reposition the blower fans in the top/back of the microwave so it would blow out the top front. It came set up for an outside vent. If I hadn’t caught that I would have had to take it out and reposition the fan.
I saved and re used the screws that screw in from the top as the ones in the kit were too long. If the screws are to long they can damage your new oven.
The basic install went pretty quick. I was lucky as the new oven was exactly like the 10 year old one that we replaced. We installed it once without installing the screws in the top to see if we had clearance and everything worked as to fit. Then we set it down and applied
2 large beads of RTV on the back mounting plate, you have to make them big enough to make good contact and flatten out about an inch when you get the oven in place. I also put a smaller bead on the two places that the oven hooked on to on the bottom of the mounting plat. The idea is to prevent the oven from moving and reduce vibration.
Tightened up the screws plugged it in and replaced the upper trim piece and gave it a trial run.

I to have checked my speedometer for errors. I have a Banks IQ that will do a calibration check. It checks indicated speed against GPS speed. My speedometer was slow. I have to multiply by 5.8% to get actual GPS speed and mileage.

I can't speculate on what the problem is beyond the first thing I would check would be fuel filters. You will learn if a diesel shuts down and it isn't heat related it is most likely a filter/bad fuel problem. I am hoping to hear what the problem is. Better now than after you sine the paperwork. I had a problem with the generator before I hander over the check. They are much more interested in fixing things before rather than after.
By the way Brett does an excellent seminar.

They still build RVs like stick and brick houses not like something that is going down the road. Think of it as an earthquake every time you drive. Good job keeping the pipes located.
