The quick fill systems are not cheap! With needing multiple battery fill systems that will add up quickly. Thinking of trying the spray bottle method first.

Would love hear more first hand experience of Alaska caravan tour services. Should my wife and I do this for our first Alaska trip? We will begin our trip from our home in Virginia. Thanks in advance!

I downloaded on my cell an android app called "All Stays ONP" that tells you by location which Walmarts will allow over night parking and which ones do not. Advice is to always check with the manager before staying even if it is on the list of allows ONP. Have not used it yet. Coach is still covered and surrounded by snow.

Motor Coach Residential Communities and Resorts
RTinVa replied to RTinVa's topic in General Discussion
Valuable advice Bill. Thank you for the insight. The previous neighborhood we lived in had HOAs. When my wife and I put up a bird bath (3 tier) with an electric pump (the birds loved it) they threatened us with a $10.00 per day fine if the unapproved "water feature" was up after 30 days notice. The people on the architectural review committee (I prefer to call them yard "police" (another word in place of police). We moved shortly afterward and now have a nice home on 4 acres where I keep all my toys. HOAs are very effective and sometimes beneficial but knowing all the rules is critical. The situation you are referring to is exactly the information I need as after retirement I will not have a pot of gold to draw on. Thank you again for your reply. It is hoped other can offer positive experiences and recommend places all can enjoy if interested in visiting or buying. -
While visiting my membership RV sites and forums I have seen various banners and discussions on communities that have custom built homes that accommodate "big toys" to include full hook ups inside as well as outside of garages that are built into the homes. I have received many recommendations for and against with the things to look out for when looking for the "perfect" motor coach friendly community. I would like to hear from members of FMCA who have personal experiences with these types of communities to include full residential homes to coach lots and amenities. If you rent or own? Stay for months or weeks? North for summer and South for winter? Would it be better to buy in a resort and have the ability to rent the lot when not there? My wife and I will have the option of looking for a retirement home in a couple years and are not sure if we should build the large garage at out current home or consider moving to an area that has families with similar interests and hobbies. Any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any replies! Travel safe!

Wow! Better you than me. Our coach remains covered in the drive waiting for Spring. Hope it gets here sooner than later. Cannot wait to hit the road! -

How To Select The Best Tow Dolly
RTinVa replied to MikeMason's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
We have a 2010 Acura TSX and just bought a Kar Kaddy SS car dolly. It will not rust and has turning wheels. The dolly folds front and rear and takes up little space. The straps are fixed to the dolly so you can store them right on the dolly. It has surge brakes so the hook up is minimal. I do plan on getting a light bar for the trunk but it is not required. It does not weight much at all and is easy to move when empty. Google the Kar Kaddy SS and there are videos to show you the features. We look forward to many years of happy towing with this dolly. I am even considering a lift on the back for a golf cart. No concerns on the angle of the ramps and they are auto locking! Good luck in your decision! Travel safe! -
Wheel Chocks - Needed And If Yes, Most Preferred
RTinVa replied to garyejones's topic in Type A motorhomes
Very valuable advice Doug. Never new that could happen and if it does I will wish I had wheel chocks. Looks like I will be shopping for them before the cover comes off the new coach! Thank you!! -
Found very helpful information in the manual today. Here are a few pages from my model which is a stationary satellite unit. It is set up for Direct TV. If I go with Dish Network that you can start and stop service and not pay for months it is parked I will open the dome and throw the appropriate switches. Hope this helps others as much as it did me. Reading in the winter will save me frustration when back on the road!

Can you provide any pictures of the dip switches to flip and additional details on how to do this? I believe my 14 FW Expedition 38B has the Winegard and will eventually consider a system to accommodate "on the go" satellite TV for when the grandchildren are traveling with us. Currently we are part timers but once I retire in Feb 2016 I plan on being on the road a great deal. Thank you for all your information and advice as I am not electrinically savy at all. If you think it would be better to hire someone to assist me in setting everything up where would I go for a service like that? Thanks again in advance.

Gadget preview: My new Go Pro Hero 3 Black Edition camera
RTinVa commented on Roadtrekingmike's blog entry in Roadtreking Blog
Although I have never owned a GoPro I have a co-worker who uses it when filming motorcycle events as he rides during events for the law enforcement agency where we work. The quality of video cannot be beat and the ability to "stick it" on just about any smooth surface is amazing. I was told they have a 100 mile per hour guarantee on the mount. If so that is something in itself. I was also told the video length for recording on the GoPro is more than sufficient for any event. It is definitely an item that I have to put on my "get list" as my wife and I are nearing retirement. Thank you for sharing! -
WHewwww. Nothing like venting about the downside of camping! Your article lists what definitely can ruin your stay while in any campground. Unfortunately, you are absolutely on the mark and factual. These things will drive you crazy, if you let them. Keep in mind that we are all from different walks of life and I don't think I have ever stayed in a campground during the last 40 years where I did not observe at least one of these violations. It is unfortunate that we as campers cannot work together and resolve these problems. I agree with your top five but I don't let it ruin my stay if possible. At times it can be very hard. Fortunately, we now have the internet and can look to other campers to provide accurate and current information regarding these issues. Personally I look to the forums I frequent most for information. Any IT campers who would like to try and build a site to offer this information out there? It would not be easy to validate the reviews as we all know about opinions. They are all different and vary greatly. Good luck to all while dealing with these very frustrating occurrences. Hoping we all experience far more good than bad as we make our own trails across the country.
