  1. I made one using a stop sign image and inside it says " CAR IN TOW". CAR IN TOW.pdf
  2. I sure hope not. We just purchased a hardly used MH with the kitchen on a slide. I'd be interested to hear any comments on this issue also.
  3. Jim, I thank you so much for all the info and instruction and your generous offer of help with the install. However, we are many, many miles from Houston or even north of it. We are in Ohio. I will pass this along to the DH to see if he is comfortable with the install. Thanks again, and we are so glad we have found this forum.
  4. http://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/2003/Used/Georgie-Boy You can go from here and put in all the particulars that your unit has. Good luck.
  5. We were told during our walk thru when we picked up the MH that we could run the furnace while driving. We picked it up in March and didn't turn the furnace on before leaving for home, and as you can imagine (March in Ohio), we were quite cold after the 2hr drive. We plan on heading out next winter in January or February for warmer climates and you can bet the furnace will be running. And we'll be bundled up.
  6. We ordered the Progressive Industries surge protector from Tweety's, just waiting on it to arrive and have it installed. Can a regular electrician do the install or should it be an RV technician?
  7. Does anyone notice a buzzing/humming sound coming from their surge guards?

  9. That sure is good to hear Wolfe 10. Thanks for the info. We were thinking of ordering it from Camping World, but would need someone to do the install. May just need to make a trip to CW.
  10. We are going to purchase a surge protector for our coach and wondering about hard wiring it in the coach -vs- a portable one. My question is, where do you hardwire it in the coach? Is it inside the coach? In reading a bit about the protector I have heard there is a hum that comes from it and I don't really want to hear that inside the coach. Can they be hardwired in a storage bay area? As you can tell, this is all new to us and we have lots of questions that may seem simple to others, but we are very appreciative of the knowledge base we have on here to get answers.
  11. Do you have a breaker that was tripped, causing your inverter not to work and you're running off your battery which may have been drained an you didn't know it? We just had that issue and all it was, was a tripped breaker. Easy fix, but a headache until you found out.
  12. I've done a bit of research regarding price and this RV park, I though it had very reasonable rates compared to the rates I found in the Florida panhandle, beach side. Those were at least $175 per night, without sewer hookup. And then you had to pay extra for them to pump out the holding tanks. Needless to say, we won't be staying there. Thanks for posting about this park.
  13. Beautiful coach. Safe travels to you.
  14. Looks like a nice rig. Congratulations and happy travels.
  15. Thank you to Rich and Kay for the great info. &nbsp. I tried to make both of your answers as the Best Answer but it will only let me show one. But know both were very informative and knowledgeable.
  16. I saw on another forum that as long as you have the propane turned off, you can go through the tunnel. Has anyone else been through there?
  17. Being a totally new motor home owner, I need answers regarding travel and tunnels. Can you take the motor home through the tunnels? We usually go south on 25E through KY and into VA, but have to go through the Cumberland Gap tunnel. Can we take the motor home through the tunnel? I googled Cumberland Gap tunnel but it did not have any info regarding what vehicles can go through.
  18. Thanks to you all for the great information. Like I said before, it's very good to be able to post a question and you know you're going to get very knowledgeable answers from folks who have been there and still doing it. Thanks again, and please get used to me asking a lot of questions. But I first try and locate a topic that may already have my answers.
  19. So should both disconnects, coach and chassis, always be on?
  20. We picked up our "new to us" motor-home last week and have been busy cleaning and loading. My question is, when you plug into electric, do you have to engage the "battery disconnect" before it will convert to electric? We have been camping a lot of years in a travel trailer and when we plugged in to electric, the converter automatically came on. It appears with the motor home we must disconnect the batteries first. Guess what we are asking is; what is the correct procedure when pulling into a campsite? Or any place we want to run just the electric. We are sure glad us 'newbies' have someplace to turn to for the answers we need.
  21. I took a look at the towing site, thanks. Then I went online to research towing our 98 Blazer 4WD. This is what I found. Does this seem correct to anyone? Yes it can, just place your Transfer Case in Neutral position. Shifting into NEUTRAL To shift the transfer case to NEUTRAL do the following: Make sure the vehicle is parked so that it will not roll. Set the parking brake. Start the vehicle or turn the ignition to RUN. Connect the vehicle to the towing vehicle. Put the transmission in NEUTRAL (N). Shift the transfer case to 2HI. Simultaneously press and hold the 2HI and 4LO buttons for 10 seconds. The red NEUTRAL light will come on when the transfer case shift to NEUTRAL is complete. Shift the transmission to REVERSE ® for one second, then shift the transmission to DRIVE (D) for one second, or FIRST (1) for vehiclesequipped with a manual transmission. Turn the ignition to LOCK. Place the transmission shift lever in PARK (P), or FIRST (1) for vehicles with a manual transmission. Release the parking brake prior to towing. Shifting Out of NEUTRAL To shift out of NEUTRAL: Set the parking brake and apply the regular brake pedal. Shift the transmission to NEUTRAL (N) and turn the ignition to RUN with the engine off. Press the button for the desired transfer case shift position (2HI, 4HI, AUTO 4WD or 4LO). After the transfer case has shifted out of NEUTRAL the red light will go out. Release the parking brake. You may start the engine and shift the transmission to the desired position. Excessively shifting the transfer case into or out of the different modes may cause the transfer case to enter the shift protection mode. This will protect the transfer case from possible damage and will only allow the transfer case to respond to one shift per 10 seconds. The transfer case may stay in this mode for up to three minutes. NEUTRAL: Shift the vehicle's transfer case to NEUTRAL only when towing your vehicle. Good luck and hope this answers your question.
  22. Thanks to everyone for all the information. We don't know what we're going to tow. We have a 2011 Chevy Equinox and a 98 Blazer (that is near and dear to my heart). My first brand new vehicle that was all mine. I guess we'll need to decide what we are going to do, and then save up for the equipment it takes to pull something. Our coach has a Reese hitch on the back and will pull 5,000lbs from what I've read so far. There goes the gas mileage.
  23. As a total newbie to traveling in a MH, why do we need a dash cover? Is it for protection from the sun when driving or parked?
  24. Imsooter, thank you for the information. I had no idea about having the motorhome weighed once we got it all set up. That is a very good idea, and also thanks for the mileage update. Ours too has the Ford Triton V10. I will be checking out the website you suggested. There is so much to learn, even though we have been campers with travel trailers since the 70's, motorhomes are a horse of a different color. Thanks again.
