  1. I spoke to Monaco, they cannot tell me what if any it was equipped with when it was built, No help. Usually you have to manually drain your tanks, (D.O.T says daily) but I guess where you are traveling would impact that. Someone installed heated automatic drains on my coach and they seem to work fine, I am still going to purchase a dryer and install it, the less I have to worry about the happier our trips will be. Fuel separator I would drain at every oil change interval (if more than once a year) or just replace the filters annually.
  2. I have a call into Monaco waiting for a return call, when I spoke to them I had no VIN number to provide, so I called them back with it and left a message. They told me they were under the assumption they were all equipped with a dryer and the rep told me where to find it, there was no way it would fit where he pointed me to look, my lower radiator hose is routed there and there is no marking anywhere to indicate it ever had one, nor would one fit. I researched the on-line brochures and they spell out the air system, no mention of a dryer. If it never had it should I let it go, or add it to the system? You know the old saying "if it isn't broken don't fix it".
  3. I just purchased a 2002 Holiday Rambler Imperial with an ISL Cummins. Upon doing a full service I noticed I do not have an air dryer, is this normal? All of the air tanks have heated automatic water purge valves and there was no water in the tanks so they work but I thought it was strange not to see an air dryer. Being in the truck service industry I usually don't see an air system this complex without a dryer. Any thoughts?
  4. Our's has a two stage jake brake and it is very strong on both settings, on an 8% grade it will slow us down too much and I find myself feathering the accelerator pedal to shut it off. you might want to get that checked out prior to purchase.
  5. Watch out for the Maxxforce products! Navistar is replacing them with Cummins due to frequent breakdowns. When we were looking, the dealer had two purchase back units that "spent more time behind a tow truck". I strongly recommend looking another direction, especially since Navistar is ditching their own product, it can't be that good.
  6. Thank you all for the replies, we purchased the unit and love it so far, its a big difference from the class C we had.
  7. I just purchased a 2002 coach with an air leveling system by HWH, it does not level automaticially, the rear drops and the front raises, when I manually lower the front only the left side drops then I have to manually lower the right side, I want to replace this with hydraulic eventually but for now if it worked properly it would be great, any ideas?
  8. Update; it is a 2001 ISL400 looked good, no leaks, I have a concern on the air leveling system and the aqua hot system that I am not familiar with, I wanted hydraulic leveling and the traditional RV LP heater would be good, especially since we are not full timers and we only camp in the cold by accident.
  9. Did anyone check the lower radiator hose (engine return hose) to make sure it's not collapsing under load, from the suction? Also check with Cummins-- could the water pump be spinning backwards, Some manufactures offer water pumps with reverse impellers, or did the new engine come with the water pump or was you old one transferred to the new engine? If you are reusing the pump make sure the impeller is tight on the shaft.
  10. Thank you Brett, I have been flip flopping back and forth on what year to purchase due to emissions technology, then new seem to be OK now with the SCR engines I just know to stay away from 2004-2009 with the EGR only engine. I think we're purchasing it. Thanks, Joe
  11. We are considering our first Diesel Pusher purchase and we located a 2002 Holiday Rambler 40' with a 400hp ISM Cummins and a 6 speed Allison transmission. I do not know what the axle ratio is but it is on a Roadmaster chassis. Any ideas what to expect for fuel mileage not towing? We also looked a a new Fleetwood with a Cummins ISB 300 and was told 11-13 MPG which seemed high but sounded good. We currenly have a 31' Class C Ford E-450 V10 which is around 7-8, I am hoping with the diesel I can get enough fuel mileage to off set the MPG or better would be great. Any thoughts on the Roadmaster chassis in 2001-2002 good chassis? Thanks,
  12. Thank you for the reply, we looked at several Newmar's and only one had a good roof that wasn,t leaking, the rest of the unit and the narrow minded dealer turned us away. Thanks.
  13. Guy's I need some advice, we are considering our first diesel coach, looking at a new unit with the Cummins ISB, I am scared to death to buy this thing and it spending all it's time behind a tow truck. I am a diesel tech and I work on Ford products. I have no experience with the Cummins product, anyone have any advice? We want something that will give us good years of service, since I am still full time employed it won't see more than 6000 miles a year,. When we do go camping we run long distances, reason for the diesel, the v10 we have now struggles and its too small. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  14. We have Pressure Pro for 6 years, my sensors are starting to need new batteries, other than that the system saved us two times. One leaking valve stem extension and one failed Goodyear tire starting to shed the tread, if it hadn't been for the system I would have not know until the tire came thru the floor there was a problem.
  15. We are considering purchasing a used Newmar with the kitchen on the slide (not the refrigerator), this will be our first coach with a slide let alone critical utilities on the slide also. Has anyone seen problems with the gas or water plumbing leaking from being moved back and forth thru the years? Thank you
