    Hi,

    I'm not sure what caused the corrosion on my friends Renegade with aluminum skin but check out the photos of that before shot I posted on this thread. That thing was nasty!

                                 Thanks and Happy New Year!

    I saw that, I will say it was unusual, but I guess it really depends on where it was operated at.

    There is a lot of information on here. Keep us posted on your progress and should you have any questions you can search for topics already discussed, if you cannot locate anything related just start a new one.

    good luck and happy trails.

    This relatively recent first time Class A Newmar Ventanna LE 3412 motorhome owner is seeking information regarding obtaining the Non Commerical Class B license required in North Carolina.

    (a) Has anyone recently obtained this license?;

    (b) What sections of the CDL manual do you need to study?;

    (c) Can you take the written exam first and then followup with the driving test portion? Thought that might be helpful since it's my understanding that someone with a valid Class B license or higher must drive my motorhome to the driving test facility. No reason for someone wait for me to take the written test; if it can be avoided.;

    (d) Where did you take the written and/or driving exam (I live in the Cary, NC area)?;

    (e) Any particular testing areas I need to concentrate on more than others in preparing?; and lastly

    (e) Any thoughts on where I might find someone to accompany me (drive my unit) to the driving test?

    Any help is Greatly appreciated!

    The link is for North Carolina. I have accompanied people in PA, I will say read the manual, especially understand the Pre-Trip inspection and memorize it, in PA they will require the driver to properly complete it, probably the same in NC as it is a Federal Law. They also asked both times if there was anything inside you need to check i.e. unsecured furniture, dishes, cabinet doors etc.....and both times they walked through the coach with the driver and he checked for any loose items that will come sliding forward or fall out while driving.

    And lastly, make sure you can properly operate the coach on the road, use your mirrors and pay special attention to warning signs, i.e bridge weight limits and height signs, once you cross over or under they will ask you what was that bridge height or what was that bridge weight rating.

    Jim, is that 8 batteries on one or two inverters? Carl has 8 batteries with two inverters with 4 batteries each. I am not sure how long they last without recharging. I believe each has designated items they service.

    You still running (4) 6 volt batteries and the MSW inverter on the Dynasty?

    Jim, I agree that 6 doesn't seem like alot but that is just at the moment you check. I would wager that on any given day there may be as high as 300 to 500 + folks aday checking out the latest topics or post. I had the numbers at one time and it was in the thousands of hits per month. There are many folks that just look see and never post. But please keep checking and passing on the good advice and information you have.

    I believe a bunch of it now a days are coming from social media. If I cannot help people on the Monaco Facebook page I refer them to this forum.

    Yes I did, see my next to last sentence. Got them clean and check them quite often now.

    Do you have a portable EMS on the tower, that would give you a time delay?

    Don't worry, I am guilty of stuff like this also!. A few years ago I plugged our's in with the generator running with both AC units on, stalled the generator :wacko:. Won't do that again!

    From my actual experience, I could run my Samsung RF197 along with the miscellaneous other power draws for 24-36 hours on 4, 5 year old house batteries.

    This thread is turning in to another "this is what I have and its the best" thread.

    There is also a lot of variables to be determined that will ultimately determine battery life including habits that no one can calculate for but you.

    I would recommend running it on a trial at home and simulate how you dry camp if traveling. For us I gave up around the 12 hour mark with 85% battery life remaining. If that concerned install a generator auto start/stop and solar on the roof. I actually figured out how to set up the auto start/stop feature while watching TV testing the draw in my driveway. Now I just make sure its programmed properly and forget about it. We also make hot beverages and breakfast in the AM so starting the generator is a morning must (induction cooktop).
