  1. Deasnely, what year is your coach?

    I just replaced the pump on our ISL400 heres the link;

I Do not know if this pump also fits your engine.  I will say the an aftermarket pump is not likely to be an updated design if these is one available from Cummins. I had a friend replace his pump on his coach at a campground over the summer and the aftermarket pump he purchased was new, but was the original Cummins design from 4 pump models ago.

  2. We had the same model in our last coach and ran it as cold as 10 degrees outside and never e experienced this situation. I will say since I saw this post and doing some research it’s not uncommon. Some models have a cold weather package that was an option from what I have read. Of course there was no description of what this package consisted of.

If it were me I’d reach out to Dometic and ask them. In the meantime I’d shut it down and move the food to a cooler outside. I wouldn’t recommend altering the unit without consulting the manufacturer.

  3. If not said already, Welcome to the FMCA Forums!

Rich, love the bus and I love the work/upgrades and the quality of your detail is also fantastic!

What year is the bus, what engine is in it and how does it cruise on the highways? My wife drives a school bus and they aren't typically geared for highway commutes, or I should say the one she drives isn't.

Why would somebody hack the grounds like this?  They didn't even match up he same gage wires.  The new controller came with 2  new grounding terminals factory made.  You can't be too lazy to unbolt the grounds from the frame.   Probably the same person that poked the wire.

Ohhhh wow!! Couldn't have the courtesy at the minimum use the correct gauge wire let alone heat shrink butt connectors (which I am not a fan of either):(. That looks like a campground repair that was forgotten about.

  5. somewhereintheusa, I cant tell you whats right or what to do but I will say that we joined a chapter in Texas and we live in PA, sounds crazy but we love to travel to Texas, with that being said I am planning our vacations around chapter rallies in the future. I would also like to say someone like yourself would be a huge help for fellow RV folks and I for one would love to sit and chat about the coach you built as I am a gadget guy also. Plus the team at FMCA While I cannot speak for them I am sure they are always looking for more benefits and such for the members. Whats not here today maybe here tomorrow, you just never know. I would also bet you would meet new friends on the forums alone, that I can say happens daily or at least begins to build a connection that one day blossoms into a life long friendship.

Can you post photos of your coach and explain what is controlling your awnings that a smart phone app can operate it? Perhaps create another post in the "RV Photo gallery" section? I'd bet many of us on here would love to see it.

  6. SueCanDo, from experience, make sure your wiper seals are flipping out. On our coach if they do not flip outwards the water will be all over the floor. I carry a homemade tool to manually flip them outwards. After two years of that I became tired of manually doing that and added vinyl trim so when the slides go out they pass under the seals and flip them out automatically. But you can believe I walk around and look at them just to be sure they are seated outwards.

I went underneath the coach and found some greenie meanies where maybe someone poked the wire with a test light.

I go through this daily, we have actually had training classes with our mechanics and bought back probe kits to stop this old way of doing things, still happens! You should see how one little piercing will shut a new engine down from the greenie meanies!

Joe, you lead a sheltered life!  Very difficult to do College, for any length of time, without knowing a few Mascot's!  There are 247 Tigers in the US, too me and Mike, there is only one, LSU !  :D

My college didn’t do sports, we did PT and lots of push-ups.

  9. Ok, any puff of smoke from the exhaust while cranking? Not sure of your technical background but one simple check I would do on those engines; while cranking (requires two people) place a screwdriver or long something metal, while someone is cranking the engine put it against your ear, you should hear a ticking sound (usually very pronounced) from each injector, this will tell you they are attempting to fire (high pressure oil system is functioning). This will eliminate one portion, after that it just needs fuel and of course the electronics for injector timing to start.

Given your situation that the light comes on then goes off, was this normal on your coach before? If not we’re back to ECM power or grounds. If you can obtain the schematic for your engine wiring from Freighliner and post it I can help point you in the right direction to troubleshoot it. See if they can send it in a PDF.

  10. Funny, I thought this post was about some sort of new diet exercise fad. Bevo vs. UGA

Sounds like some sort of Cardio vs some sort of new Yoga, ‘‘tis the season for New Years resolutions :)

This is what happens when you don’t follow sports :D

  11. TTRV, no engine light with the key on is a great observation!! You are missing either a power source or ground to the Engine Control Module. I see you tested one fuse, if it were me I’d go through every fuse box with anything chassis related and every fuse doing the same thing. Usually there are several fuses controlling the ECM. If all good pull the engine access open and locate the ECM, check those connections and start inspecting that harness and any grounds as it makes its way around the engine bay and splits off. Also see if there are any ECM relays, if so swap them with non critical ones like the horn, etc. If it starts afterwards you can always pick up a new relay later.

I’m betting you will find chewed wires or a bad relay at some point of your inspection.
