  1. Well, forget about Pete's...I brought the Monaco in this morning at 8 and, upon further reflection, they said they couldn't do the alignment after all. So, still looking. I'll give Holland a call and see what they say.

  4. Great idea Herman & will do. I looked through paperwork the origninal owner had kept and a local company here in Escondido, Pete's Tire, was a vendor for Monarch back in the day, and did some warranty work on this rig. I stopped by and talked to the mechanic who said they've done many MH's over the years, so I set an appointment for next Tuesday. I also read the rvforum and a gentleman named Mike spoke at length about a "Watts Link" he designed and installed and that the problem lies more with inconsistent chassis construction of the Roadmaster chassis than alignment. Even so, as the second owner and after 15 years and 68,000 miles, I'd feel more comfortable having someone check the steering set up and be able to discuss it with me. I'll keep you posted. Dan
  5. Our 36-foot 2001 Monaco Windsor requires constant steering wheel correction while underway, and I am wanting to take it to a shop that has experience with this size vehicle. Does anyone have any recommendations for the San Diego, CA area? Dan
  6. We had a very loud racket coming from the door on our 2001 Monarch and tracked it down to the hinges. I found it by spraying WD-40 on them and immediately noticed the noise was gone! In the last few days, I got some white grease and worked it well into the top and bottom hinges...and greased the joints of the restraining arm at the top of the door. I also greased the closures at the two points that secure the door to the body. While I haven't taken it out yet, I'm expecting a nice, quite ride. Dan

  8. I would say if your ISL400 is operating at 1725 RPM at 65 mph, something is not quite right with your running gear. Take a look at the attached link about this engine producing its maximum torque of 1,200 ft. lbs. at 1,300 RPM. At 65 mph, I'd expect you to be closer to that 1,300 number. If you're regularly operating at 1,725 then you're off it's maximum torque and that may be why you're wondering why there isn't more power. Dan http://cumminsengines.com/uploads/docs/4971107.pdf
  9. I took our 2001 Monarch in yesterday for some service to San Diego RV on Bond Ave. in El Cajon here in the San Diego area. I asked them if they do repair on foggy windows and they said yes. They'll have it for a week or so but I'll report back on the results. Dan

  11. I just received the SS300-R4 system for my 36-foot Monaco DP. I used this web site: http://www.firefightmarine.com/ffproducts/products/large-format-automatic-systems/ I haven't installed it yet, but will before our next trip this summer. It was important to me, so I'm happy to pay for the extra protection....whatever that level may be. The extra level of fire suppression may be the difference between my wife and me getting out of the coach safely...or not. Worth the cost for the peace of mind. IMHO. I also agree with Brett that prevention of fire in the first place by ensuring the engine and it's component parts are in proper and clean operating condition is key. Dan
  12. I'm sure this topic has been covered before, but now we have a few foggy windows in our 2001 Monaco Windsor. Can anyone recommend a repair facility in the San Diego, CA area to fix this condition? Dan
  13. I have a 2001 Monaco Windsor DP, so based on my model, two thoughts: 1) There should be a switch on dash on the left side of the steering wheel (marked Aux. Start) that allows you to use your house batteries to start your engine. I've used it on my rig and it works great...assuming your house batteries are charged. Turn the ignition to "ON" and engage that switch to turn over the engine. 2) In the electrical compartment in the basement of our rig are two rotary switches; one marked "House Disconnect" and one marked "Chassis Disconnect". The owner's manual says to turn these to the "OFF" position if you are storing the rig for any length to time to eliminate parasitic losses during storage. Hope that helps.
