    Engine Retarder

Thanks for all the replies to my question. The only word on the switch is retarder. It works well and it gives me peace of mind knowing its there. I have lots of other questions but I'm scheduled for Frieghtliner Camp at the factory in July. Its a 2 day class and I've been told it is very informative. Thanks again, ccmsm

    Engine Retarder

I"m new to the diesel world. We've only had one since January. My question is does it cause a problem if I leave the engine retarder on. I forgot and left it own a couple times and drove about a hundred miles each time with it on. Thanks, ccmsm
  3. We had a bad delivery experience when we bought our 2014 Winnebago from Lazy Days. I couldn't recommend them for anything. I can recommend General RV. They are about 10 miles east of Lazy Days off I 4. We just traded with them and it was a good experience. One thing you might think about is financing unless you are paying cash. We have excellent credit but financing for full timing became a problem. Seems that very few lenders will finance full timers. If you can arrange financing while you still have a permanent address you can save a lot of hassle and money. ccmsm

    Oil Change

How important is it to change the oil on time on my gas coach. The manual says to change it every 6 months and I have always done that. This time it is very inconvenient to do that. It's about 100 miles round trip to get it done. The coach only has about 7500 miles on it and less than 2000 since the last change. We plan to be in an area that I can easily get it done toward the end of October. That will be about 6-8 weeks past due. My question is can my warranty be voided because of this. Thanks, ccmsm
  5. I apologize but that's been about 8 months ago and I can't remember. We are on the road now but when get back I'll look it up. It is through a local agent so I think about every company would offer it. From talking to my neighbors most of them have it but we all seem to use different agents. Sorry I can't be more help right now. Ccmsm
  6. We have a lot in a motorcoach resort. Although we never plan to rent it we did get 500k liability for it. It was only $325 a year. You never know when a visitor might fall or numerous other things might happen on it. Ccmsm
  7. We use the drop in pouches and have never had a problem with the black tank. What we have had problems with is a continuous smell from under the sinks. I don't have roof vents for each sink I have air admittance valves at each location. I had never heard of these but a friend kept telling me it had to be located close to each drain location. I looked but could never see anything like that. Finally I was able to locate these by feeling around under each location. I replaced 3 of them and that took care of most of the problem. Sometimes we still have an odor from around the washing machine. I'm sure there is another valve behind it but that is a major job. I'm leaving it alone till my wife makes me change it. I'm probably the only one that had never heard of these valves but I hope this helps someone. They are only $7 at Lowes.
  8. In 2008 I retired from a very large telephone company in middle Georgia. We gladly provided DSL service for every campground in our service area. Even in the resort we are in now you can easily get DSL. I don't think it will be a problem getting it in most areas in the south. ccmsm
  9. What Coachnet said about the steering tires not being covered under the warranty concerns me. I thought all my tires were covered. I'll have to dig out my contract and check. Do y'all think this is standard.
  10. We have Blue Sky. We bought it from Lazy Days when we bought our new coach earlier this year. It has a vanishing deductible and some other features I liked. I was told that this company only insures RV's. ccmsm
  11. We have a 2008 373DSXL. We bought it in July of 2009. The original owner only kept it for 3 months. It only had 2,039 miles on it when we bought it. That made us the second owners so all warranties were void. Thankfully we bought an extended warranty. We have a $200 deductible but the warranty has more than double paid for itself. It is a nice looking coach but it simply lacks quality. I hesitate to say too much about quality since some of the topics under this forum indicate that quality is a problem with most other makes also. We plan to upgrade to a new coach this year but I'm reasonably sure it won't be another Georgetown. Good Luck.
  12. We towed a 2007 CRV and now a 2013 CRV. I have never pulled a fuse. I always make sure everything inside the car is turned off. I have never had a dead or weak battery. We never travel over 300 miles a day.
  13. We have a good car wash near us that does a great job for $6. I don't use it very often because the brushes and water pressure seem harsh. I do not use it at all on our Honda CR-V because of the breakaway switch for the Brake Buddy. I was told if I wanted to use it just pull the pin on the switch then replace it when done. This would prevent me from loosing the pin. My question is should I be concerned about the inside of this switch getting wet? Any response will be appreciated. CCMSM
  14. We were at Hilton Head earlier this year when a blowing rainstorm came through. We had a leak where the bedroom slide meets the wall. A neighbor in the campground said there are 2 kinds of motorhomes. One that leaks and one that is going to leak. We were at St Augustine earlier this month and had 12 inches of rain the first 3 days we were there. The bedroom didn't leak this time but some magazines got wet next to where the front slide meets the wall. I could never find what caused either of these leaks.
  15. I didn't know Mr. Blue but I do use rvparkreviews.com often. I thank him and all the others who make RVING easier for us all.
  16. One of the things we like about having a motorhome is having all the conveniences of home. This means taking daily showers, washing clothes and dishes daily. Our motorhome was made with the bathroom sink draining into the black water tank. This means I have to empty the black tank at least every 2 days. I would not have bought this motorhome had I known that. If we are blessed enough to get another motorhome one day that will be the first thing I check.
  17. We had the same thing happen about a year ago. I found mice droppings in the back where the spare tire would go [if i had one]. Ours is stored in our backyard next to a hedgerow. I thought I would seal all the holes but after looking closer there is no way to seal all of them. I put 2 traps back there and check them about twice a week. So far the traps have not been tripped and I haven't seen anymore signs of them. I still have a piece of Styrofoam come out occasionally but I think it is just from the original problem. I'm just thankful a snake didn't get in there and my wife found out. I would be traveling alone. ccmsm
  18. We're glad we added the washer-dryer. We use it every trip and hardly notice the vibration anymore. We have always used the Splendide detergent sold at camping world. The last trip out my wife had some allergic reaction to the clothes she washed with this detergent. Do ya'll use this detergent or are there some alternatives? Thanks, ccmsm
  19. We tow a 2007 CRV with a Blue Ox tow package. Does anyone know if the attachment on my car would be transferable to a 2012 CRV.

    Toll Roads

We did pay the correct toll both times this happened. Our receipt shows this. I asked the people at the resort and they said nobody else has reported this happening to them. We don't go often enough to get a toll road pass yet although we hope to someday. ccmsm
  21. Our favorite place to camp is at the motorcoach resort on Hilton Head Island. We try to go 3 or 4 times a year since it is only 200 miles from where we live. For the second time in about 18 months we received a notice and a fine in the mail that we didn't pay toll on our CRV that we were towing. The first time we just payed the fine since it was our word against theirs. Since then we always ask for a receipt and thankfully we kept this one. The toll fee is $1.25 per car plus $1 for each additional axle. When I called the number on the citation the lady told me to make a copy of the receipt and send it in. I assume they will fix this one but I'll probably get another one in the future. Is this a problem with all toll roads or am I just unlucky. Thanks for any reply. ccmsm
  22. I checked the Camping World website and the club price for it is $319.99. That's not 20% but better than nothing. I checked in the local Camping World store and it is not in stock yet.
  23. This is what I've been looking for. Where can I find the 20% discount code.
  24. We really enjoyed the rally in Perry. We only live 15 miles from the fairgrounds but we went on Saturday and came home on Friday. I've been wanting to do that since the first rally was held in Perry. We have only been motorhome owners for about a year and half so this was our first opportunity to go as FMCA members. It was everything and more I thought it would be. We won't be able to go to Madison but we look forward to attending many more rallies. Thanks to everyone that made this happen. ccmsm
