Byron.  If I read his March 23rd post correctly, they are going to Idaho for the warm months (good for them, a beautiful state) and Pahrump for Winter!

Jumper.  Sounds like a good plan to me, and welcome to the Family Motor Coach Association!   What's the DOT year of your tires ?  Also suggest you get some covers for them to protect against UV while parked for more than a couple of days!

    Good luck

    Carl

Yeh, Idaho mostly. Hopefully on a pontoon boat on Priest Lake. The DOT date was 2010 on all 6. I put new ones on the front in Cedar City UT and will be swapping out the rears this summer before heading back out. I did get some covers from Camping World but they are a pain to put on. Got to be a better way. Any suggestions?

Did you meet Art Bell in Pahrump?😄  Probably no snow but some chilly nights a few. The town has really grown up over the years. Sharp looking ride. Where in the Northern Rockies?

No I didn't but I will look for him if you think I should.

  3. Thanks all for the welcome and well wishes. After leaving last Nov we got back home last Sat and 8,000 miles later. We are her till Oct 1st and then we are heading out again and will be fulltime. We won't be back on this side of the Missouri River if we can help it. Nevada in the winter time and northern rockies in the summer. Great life.

I am going to Palo Duro Canyon The 26th to 29th. If you go up to Amarillo I would recommend. Overnite RV Park, 900 S Lakeside Dr, Amarillo, TX 79118, overnitervpark.com, (806) 373-1431

You and your friends should visit The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery, 7701 Interstate 40 Access Rd, Amarillo, TX 79118, bigtexan.com, (806) 372-6000.

Try to eat the 72 0z steak challenge.

They have a limo that will come and pick you up at the rv park.

We have also stayed at Oasis RV Resort, 2715 Arnot Rd, Amarillo, TX 79124
myrvoasis.com, (806) 356-8408 It is on the West side of town.

Something else interesting is the "ART" installation known as  Cadillac Ranch,I-40 Frontage Rd, Amarillo, TX 79124, (630) 313-0187

Friends from Lubbock might have day tripped or overnighted Palo Duro, Roswell, and Carlsbad. Ask them. Ruidoso NM has pleasant night time temps according to Carl. If it is about getting together with old friends it probably doesn't matter a lot where you go. Palo Duro is interesting. Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo is fun after the small Country Band shows up and you get lots of grub for a reasonable price. RV Oasis Park exit 60 on I-40 is inexpensive and you can do stuff in Amarillo. Eateries abound. Palo Duro is easy from the park.  Just a few thoughts.

and very good ones too, thanks

  6. We will be leaving PA Aug 1st and heading to the northeast.

Probably go up thru NY then CT, RI, MA, ME, VT, NH and then back thru NY to PA.

We would like to meet up with any other members if you're in the area.

We are new to this so if you meet up with us, prepare for a ton of questions, haha.

    Safe journeys

  7. Got a question. We would like to go to Lubbock and pick up an old Army buddy and his wife. They both desperately need a vacation and we would like to take them out for a week or two. It will probably be for just a week as per their schedules.

So, not looking for a long time on the road but somewhere we can go and hang out for a week or so. Maybe a couple nights at a couple different places. Not too familiar with the area so I was wondering if I could get some ideas.

Thought about Carlsbad Caverns and then Roswell.

    What say you?

  8. Just a heads up Folks. There is a new supplier of tires in Cedar City, UT called Color Country Diesel. I looked on the website when I wanted new steer tires and the closest shop was in St George but when I spoke to Michelin on the phone they hooked me up with these guys.

Turns out, they are new to the program and just recently signed on so they weren't on the website yet. Contacted them, made the appointment and got the tires on.

Great job, great service. No complaints.

Ask for Chris and tell him I sent ya.

    Safe journey

  9. We bought this last Sept. It was a repo and I bought it from the guy that bought it from the bank. The coach is great but the guy turned out to be a real jack ***. It's a Damon (Thor) Astoria, 40', 3 slides. Being pushed by a Cummins ISB 6.7, 360HP on a Freightshaker custom chassis. Really runs great. We packed it up and left the farm in western PA in November 2016 for our first crack at snowbirding. Came down through Ohio and into Kentucky. Visited a good friend there then off to TN. Visited some friends there then down through MS and stayed in Lafayette, LA for a week. Had a good friend there we spent some time with. Then it was off to San Antonio for a spell and then to Lubbock. Spent some time with an old Army buddy of mine. Up to 4-corners then Monument Valley. Back down to Kingman AZ and then over to Pahrump NV. Spent a couple months there before heading down to Bullhead City AZ. It was there I learned about a 2 day RV Skills class being held in Chandler so I drove the toad down while the wife held down the fort. Only after I got there I learned of the convention so after the skills class I hung around for a couple more days and joined FMCA. Glad I did. Anyway, back to BHC and then to Vegas. Left Vegas and are in Cedar City UT now. Going to hang out here for a bit and then up thru CO and back east to PA.

In August we are going to tour the New England states and then back home to regroup. Going to load up and head west to Idaho and once the cold wind starts blowing we will be heading back to Pahrump for the winter. It's been a real learning curve but we are having a ball. Really glad I met up with FMCA and appreciate all the help and positive feedback. Safe journey everybody and we'll see ya on the road.

I have the ones where I have to lay down on the ground/driveway and fish a bungee cord around the inboard side of each wheel and then push a plastic ball thru a loop. All this to hold the cover in place. Then repeat the process to take them off.

Save yourself aggravation and time and just go ahead and buy the covers that have a built in spring. You merely spread the spring enough to go over the tire O.D. and then release it when the cover is in place. Reverse the process to remove.

Sorry I can't remember the manufacturer but someone here on the site will undoubtedly know who it is.

Yep, I got a set of those from CampingWorld. The whole time I'm fishing around with them I keep thinking "There has to be a better way"
