  1. Yeh, I did see a few things on that line. That is what has me questioning it. They are a Conv/micro combo. From what I gather, you can use it as a micro to heat stuff up and you can also use them together. I did see some and I think mine is one of them, that has an option for convection only. I might try calling other appliance makers and see what I can get from them. Might call a few repair men too. I've talked to a ot of people that rave about how good the food is and I don't doubt that a bit. Was told by one guy that the best prime rib he ever had was cooked in a convection oven. Because of all the good food stories we've heard, we really want to use it. Not going to use it though if it uses even a little bit of the nuke.

  2. We bought our 2011 Thor Astoria last year and got very few manuals.

I've went online to get one but it doesn't answer my question. We have never used it because we don't use microwaves for anything.

I was recently told that you can use the convection part without the microwaves. So for the past year, we have gone without an oven (cookies, cakes and pies).

So, does anybody know if I (Sweetie Pie) can we use the convection part without getting any microwaves on my food? It's a Whirlpool and after trying to get info from them for the past hour, I will never buy a Whirlpool product.

    Thanks Guys.

  3. Yeh thanks Wayne. I did go to their website and found it. Wish I would have found it sooner. It would be a great thing to attend and def plan on doing it asap. I see they have Camp I and a Camp II which looks like a followup with more actual hands on. Been awhile since I been to South Cackilacky. Might have to swing up to Ft Bragg in NC and turn in the keys to Area J. I'm sure they are still looking for them. Thanks Guys.

  4. Hi Jazzman and welcome. I have no experience with State Farm but I see your in PA so I wanted to chip in my 2 cents. We were in Punxsutawney and still have the farm there. I have had Nationwide for years and was happy with them. When we bought our coach last year and wanted to ins it, NW didn't do motorhomes but they used Progressive. We went with that and it was about $1400 for the year. We are now fulltime and residents of South Dakota. We also just renewed our policy with Progressive for $700 a year. Same policy, same company, different location. We are new as well and still learning so I'm only passing on what we did. May not be the best thing but it works for us, for now. Kind of like the old saying, "Don't follow me, I'm lost too". Safe journey.

  5. First I heard of it. I would def like to attend one. Does anybody know when the next one is? I guess I could contact Freightshaker themselves. Been thinking about taking my coach to an authorized deal for an inspection. I bought it used and would just like to make sure everything is still where it is supposed to be. Thanks for the tip db7512

The high limit switch/relay is resettable.  Need a strong magnet.

Just google "Norcold high limit switch reset".

If course, determining why the high limit switch tripped is important to determine if you want to continue with it or replace it.  But, operating it out of level CAN trip it!

That's good to know. We are parked up and level but we did have a good blow come through and it seems that may have contributed to it. It did give me cause to read through the forum a bit on the Norcold and now I'm very concerned with the fire hazard. I think if we go out for a few hours, I will turn it off till we get back and then turn it on again. Don't want to leave my dog in here with it while we are away.

Following on with what Herman said. Measure your door, I bet it is about 24". Find the measurements for the refrigerator installed. Compare them to the Samsung RF-18 "counter depth". This is a great replacement if it will fit. My refrig was in the slide and I lacked 4" of height. I ended up using a Sears that was the same cu foot as the Dometic. With the doors and hinges off it fit through the door with 1/4 in to spare.:D The delivery guys set it inside re installed the doors.

I had to extend the floor of the refrig opening because it wasn't a counter depth unit. I added some trim to fill the rest of the opening.

One outher thing, it didn't come with a icemaker and sears wanted about $245.00  to add the icemaker (parts +labor) I bought the same ice maker on Amazon for $45.00 and it took about 15 min to install it. Makes lots of ice.:P

    Bill

Thanks Bill. Looks like the Samsung will fit but I will def measure to make sure. I used to be really handy and did my own stuff but I don't bend like I used to, hehe. I'm looking at this and if I can get the guys to get the fridge in for me, I might be able to do the rest of it. I like Jim's tip and have no problem tossing them a $20 each to set it in for me.

  8. Thanks Herman. There is no furnace underneath the fridge and no TV to worry about. The book said "not serviceable by consumer" but I did get it running again by turning it off and waiting about an hour and turned it back on. Since I'm on shore power, I put it on AC and it has been working.

That being said, I still want it out of here pronto, Tonto. We are looking at having solar installed when we get to Yuma in November and maybe they could do the fridge. I might be able to physically get it in here but it's the electrical end of it I'm not sure about. There is an outlet underneath to plug it in and I do have a Magnum 2K inverter. The only time I run it on LP is if I'm doing an overnighter in a Walmart or something. I think I do have your number so maybe tomorrow I will give you a call and bend your ear if you don't mind.

  9. Hi Folks, we just got the "uh-oh" beeps on our Norcold 121X fridge. Book says it is a "high temp limit switch is open" and not serviceable by the consumer. It beeps on AC as well as propane. We did just get a good rain/wind storm blow through and then it started beeping a couple minutes after. Not sure if it is related.

If anybody has a fix that would be great but looks like it is time for the residential  fridge to be installed. Been reading through the forum and I def want to get rid of this thing if nothing else, for the fire hazard. We just got into Sioux Falls for our residency and will be here for a month so now would be a good time to do it. I'm looking at this thing and wondering, how do you get the old one out and the new one in? The door doesn't look like it would be big enough. The windshield needs replaced so maybe that's an option.

It's a bigger job than I'm capable of (100% DAV) so any tips or questions to ask to make sure it gets done right?

  10. Welcome Benny. Very similar to ours. Got a 2011 Damon (Thor) Astoria, 40KT. Just bought ours last year and did a snowbird trip. Loved it so much that we came back to PA, tied up a few loose ends and are heading out in a few days for the fulltime life. There is a ton of stuff to learn and like you, it's all new to me too. The Folks in here are great and a huge help when questions come up. The forum in here is great and youtube is a big help too. Not sure how much help I will be to ya but anything I can do, just give a shout. See ya on the road.

My inner duals have short stems  too. I had to reach between the duals to install the TST pressure monitor systems sensors (btw, don't tighten that locking screw). Once the sensors are installed and a short 1" extension that caps the stem without having to remove it for adding air (hope you know what I'm talking about), the end is even with the outer dual access hole. This makes it easy to adjust air pressure in the inner dual tire.

When the shop mounted my new tires, they reinstalled the sensors and checked them for air leakage before installation on MH.

FWIW, here is what Michelin says about balancing beads. Plenty of wiggle-room in that statement.

    Interesting, thanks.

My two bits, Call Miller Insurance Agency, they are qualified across the country and advertise in the FMCA magazine. Cheryl was at Chandler, gave several seminars very good so we went with her on a new carrier, National General. It all appears good and saved some money too.

Just looking over some old posts regarding ins. My current plan is Progressive through Nationwide but I'm not happy with them . This sounds good Bill and I was wondering how they cover windshield replacements? Thanks

Jim.  Don't know about Hill Country. :o We are at Durant, OK., KOA 54 mornings and 80 day, very dry  and sunny!

I'm seriously thinking of buying some acres in Montana and make it my domicile, not for taxes or license fee, but because it's the 3rd largest State and only has 1 million people! :o Texas would be our second home and used in winter! :)

We are looking at the Whitefish/Kalispell/Libby area to buy but it is very pricey. I think Thompson Falls is one of Montana's best kept secrets. Looking at Priest River ID as well.

I have a set of Centramatics that I took off when I went with the beads.  The beads were furnished by the mfg for me to test,  I think that I will stick with the beads.

Interesting. Well, I talked with the tire manager and they put in the larger beads, (no powder) and the stems they put in had the special deal to prevent clogging. They do have my extensions and also the rubber stem support plug. I'm going up Monday and will pick them up. Eventually I will get to one piece stems from duallyrv along with the TPMS. Thanks for the info guys.
