  1. It may be a couple of days before I can check cables again. I can’t replace receiver. My dish requires a RJ11 data cable connection from receiver. DirecTV doesn’t have any of those anymore. If it comes down to replacing the receiver, I would have to replace the dome, too. At that point I would just drop DirecTV. I have been playing around with ROKU free streaming. Not sure that I want to cut DirecTV loose just yet, but I am about there.

  2. We are having trouble with the volume of DirecTV fluctuating. We don’t have the problem with local over the air broadcasts. I have very high quality cables from my receiver to the tv. I do not have any problem with the DVD player either.

  3. Some did had Olds Toronado engines mounted crosswise vs the length. I had a call a few years ago from a member in Lancing, MI that had a new one in a crate to sell. Put him in contact with chapter president of GL GMCers. Bet it didn’t last long.

  4. Probably about midway on engine near top. It is about 9” long and 3-1/2” dia. Be sure ti usa a Cat filter that is 2 micron filter. May or may not have a pump on it. If it doesn’t have a pump, I have the parts list you can order to install. Not hard to do if you have a set of socket wrenches.

  5. One avenue that can use is to email to your National VP for your area. Addresses are in FamRVing. State your opinion that is all a chapter member can do to their National Director.

There was an attempt a few years ago to streamline the governance, but since it would have reduced the current delegates to Governing Board, it didn’t pass. Just like congress not been required to only receive the same benefits any other citizen receives.

Look at the placard in your bus. The listed air pressure is adequate for temperature changes. Does anyone assume commercial bus drivers  adjust tire air pressure as they drive from CA to WY in December?

For RossBoyer; The NHTSA (another link) says to inflate to the Federal Tire Placard in the vehicle, that's what i do for all my vehicles. What do you do for your autos when you are the only occupant vs having 4 passengers, do you adjust tire pressure to the load ?

If I did the Federal recommendation, I would be grossly under inflated for the actual weight when I had all 4 corners weighed. In 25 years the only tire problem I have had was a bad valve stem. You do what you want, but I would rather be safe.

  7. While it is best to download and read the whole FMCAssist policy in member benefits, I think the FMCA membership is limited to two persons. Additional coverage for dependents is stated in the policy. You do not have to be in your RV, but you must be 75 miles from home. Full timers are always 75 miles from home. Keep in mind this insurance is worldwide except for return of vehicles. It does not matter who is listed first on the FMCA membership, but both need to be listed. If multiple people own the RV, I think the 1/3 ownership condition applies. But each third would have to have separate membership number. Or 1/2 ownership would require two membership numbers.

  8. No, Sam’s Clubs are not free to FMCA members, but they do offer a discount to FMCA members periodically. Usually, see a coupon in the December issue of Family RVing if they offer it that year.  Totally a marketing decision of Sam’s Clubs.

Good Sam is totally different RVers club, and they don’t offer a discount for Sam’s Clubs either. Sam’s Clubs are a division of Walmart.

How do you add the salt, does the top unscrew?

Sorry for all of the questions, just trying to wrap my head around the softener.

Yes, top unscrews, but first drain some water out of softener. Open top pour in 2 pounds of salt. You may need to pour in a little water to help salt to go down. Seal top and trickle out a little water. I taste the water. When it gets salty, turn off water and let it sit 30 minutes or so. Trickle in more water for about 20 minutes. Should not taste salty. If it does, trickle some more water. Then connect to RV and you are good for a month or more depending on your usage. We have a washer, so about a month is about the duration.

  10. You probably will not get anyone today, Saturday. But I would call FMCA, Monday morning about 8:30EST or after and ask for Dan Wulfeck. He is the one I have talked to.

I have both the Verizon and Sprint. Both work very well if there is coverage. Don’t go by cell phone coverage. Use an app to actually measure speed. Consistently, Verizon is double or more than Sprint and service coverage is better for Verizon. But I have found a couple of locations on or trip from Indiana to Arizona where Sprint exceeded Verizon. Just depends on where you are.
